You Cannot Escape!
Prepare Yourself For
Five Questions!
(M. Javed Naseem)
When Allah told the angels that He was going to create his
Viceroy on Earth – Adam –, the angels expressed their concern saying that Adam
and his offspring would create trouble on Earth. And they were absolutely
right. Adam’s son committed the first murder on earth and until now, the saga
continues. The trouble or the corruption has never stopped. It’s rather spreading.
We are responsible for our actions. Allah the Almighty gave
us a lot of liberty and choices to handle our lives in this world (on earth). Whatever
we do here in this world, we would be asked about it in the Hereafter. On the
Day of Judgment, we’ll be questioned about our lives on this earth. We are
answerable to our Creator for every thing (good or bad) we do here. Only good
things (deeds) can save us from the torment of Hellfire which bad deeds merit.
“They will bear their
own burdens, and
(other) burdens along
with their own, and
on the Day of
Judgments they will be
called to account for
their falsehoods.”
(al-Quran 29:13)
How Did You Live Your Life?
The Holy Quran is full of commands of Allah that determine
our path in this world – what we should DO, and what we should NOT do. We
choose the path we want to follow, and that will lead us to Heaven or Hell.
We’ll be held accountable for our choices and decisions. Allah has warned us in
many verses and chapters of the Holy Quran that He has sent the Book to guide
us and to remind us what is good and what is bad; what is allowed (Halal) and
what is forbidden (Haraam); what will save us from the Hellfire and what will
lead us to the Hellfire.
وَإِنَّهُ لَذِكْرٌ لَّكَ وَلِقَوْمِكَ وَسَوْفَ تُسْأَلُونَ
“This (Quran) is
indeed a Reminder
for you and your
people; and you
shall soon be
questioned.”
(al-Quran 43:44)
In the past, I had reminded you about the five major
questions (apart from many others) that every human being would have to answer
before he/she is admitted to Heaven or Hell. Today, once again, I would like to
remind you of those very important questions in case you’re living a care-free
life (without any responsibility or worry) on this planet. There is no way that
one could escape or avoid those questions. So, stop fooling around and start
working on your Hereafter (Aakhirah).
We are all sinners, there’s no doubt about it. But Allah
likes those sinners who repent and seek Allah’s forgiveness. In response, Allah
is encouraging us to do good deeds. He even offered us to remove our sins and
bad deeds if we continue doing good deeds and don’t repeat the bad deeds or
sins again. That’s the best bargain!
The questioning starts from the grave. At the very first
stage you would be asked three basic questions – about your Lord, your Prophet
and your Deen (religion). Then there are other sessions of interrogation. Some
say there are thirty questions; others say it’s 300 or even more. Allah knows
best. What we know from the sayings (Hadiths) of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) that
there would be many questions, out of which the following five are the most
important:
1. How did you live your life on earth? (As per commands of
Allah?)
2. What did you do with your youth? (The most powerful,
resourceful, beautiful and effective tool to work with).
3. How did you earn your livelihood (money)? (By Halal or
Haraam means?)
4. How did you spend your earnings/wealth? (In the cause of
Allah, helping the needy?)
5. What did you do with your knowledge (education)? (Did you
use it to serve Allah, serve mankind and to guide others to the right path?)
Easy questions but difficult answers! The most slippery
question is about your earnings/wealth. How did you make it? Everybody knows
what are ‘Halal’ means of earning. But do we abide by the ‘Halal’ rules?
We better reflect upon it seriously and prepare some valid
answers. The Day of Accountability is fast approaching. We should not be
wasting our precious time in useless entertainment, dance & music or
fabricated-story telling.
Nightingales &
Peacocks
Think that you are gliding out from the face of a cliff
like an eagle! Think you’re walking
like a tiger walks by himself in the forest!
You’re most handsome when you’re after food.
Spend less time with nightingales and peacocks!
One is just a voice, the other just a color.
