AMERICA'S ELECTION CIRCUS

America’s Election Circus
A Billion-Dollar Game!
‘The Strip & Flip Selection of 2016’

Could the 2016 Election
Be Stolen With Help from
Electronic Voting Machines?

(M. Javed Naseem)

The might is right! People are being fooled in the name of democracy, human rights, freedom of speech, liberty, freedom of choice, etc. They say: Your vote counts! Does it? If it did, it has never been counted in my favor, to my benefit or to make a change I wanted.

Election is a stunt, a drama, a circus, a fake exercise of pre-selection, a billion-dollar game. And only the vested-interest groups benefit from it. They are the people who control the whole affair from the beginning to the end. They decide, as per their needs and requirements, who should be the president to serve them as a ‘rubber stamp’. In the whole sham process of elections they use modern technology and media to support and facilitate their mission. They make it look as real as possible.

America, the staunch champion of democracy, people’s rights and freedom of speech, has a dual-core election system. There is a parallel system of election (or selection) running under the disguise of “popular vote”. They claim that people’s vote (popular vote) counts but it’s a drama. Popular vote don’t count. They are fooling people. Here’s how it works:

Generally people participate in the drama of voting; they go to the polling booths in millions and cast their votes. Each state (out of 50 states) has an allotted number of ‘delegates’. In theory, if a candidate wins a popular vote in a state, he wins the state and the state delegates vote for him. But these delegates are not legally bound to vote for the winning candidate. They can vote against him. And that’s exactly what happened in 2000 when George Bush lost the popular vote in Florida but the delegates still voted for him and eventually he won the presidential election. Poor Al Gore, who won the popular vote in Florida (as a matter of fact in the entire country) was declared the ‘loser’ because the delegates did not vote for him. In principle, they should have. That’s how the mafia robbed him of presidency!

The million-dollar question is: If people elect their candidate (president) why do they need the delegates? They sell you out. Let the people decide who they want as President on the basis of popular vote. No need of delegates! The delegates form a parallel election system to give the ‘controllers’ (the vested-interests mafia) the power to pull the lever whenever they don’t want a particular candidate to win.

Corruption in American election system is deep-rooted. Many people are concerned about official efforts to corrupt the election process or erect barriers to participation. For example, election officials could manipulate registration databases to remove the names of people likely to vote in a certain way so that these people are unable to cast regular ballots when they arrive at polling places. Corruption of this kind was widely alleged to have taken place in Florida and other states during the 2000 election.

“The only good thing we can say about
George W. Bush is the American people
never actually elected him president (in
2000). And we’re looking now at 2016, at
an election that will be very easily flipped,
in those six key swing states and elsewhere.”
-- Harvey Wasserman

*************************************

Deliberate disfranchisement of voters may also occur because of other kinds of official misconduct: turning away voters already in line when polls close; intimidating or misinforming voters when they arrive at the polls; producing misleading or poorly designed ballots; failing to provide bilingual voting materials, as required by law; failing to upgrade or repair voting systems in specific election districts; and by other means.

Overall, the disfranchisement of voters through antiquated voting systems, errors, mismanagement of registration bases, and intimidation or harassment is a far bigger problem today than traditional forms of election fraud. The problems in Florida in 2000, which determined the outcome of a presidential election, are dramatic evidence of this point.

The outcome of the 2000 U.S. Presidential election was not known for more than a month after balloting, because of the extended process of counting and then recounting of Florida ballots. The drama in Florida uniquely dragged out for several weeks before eventually settling the election for the entire nation.
The election was held in early November but in late October, one poll found that Al Gore was leading George Bush 46-42 (margin: 4) among likely voters, but the poll had a margin of error of four percentage points. Florida had been considered fertile territory for Republicans. It was governed by Jeb Bush, George W. Bush's brother.
After an intense recount process and the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, George Bush was officially declared the winner by a margin of only 537 votes out of almost 6 million cast. The process was extremely divisive, and led to calls for electoral reforms. As a result, the electronic voting machines were introduced for future elections.
*************************************
“You cannot verify an electronic voting
machine. They are privately owned by
private corporations, and the proprietary
software prevents the public from getting
access to the actual vote count.”
-- Harvey Wasserman

*************************************

Ironically, it has been proved today that these electronic machines make the voter fraud much easier, safer, simpler but harder to detect (leave no traces to be verified). An IT-expert from the supplier/contractor of these machines can manipulate and pre-program the results.

A Documentary Record of Theft
And Fraud in The 2004 Election:

Harvey Wasserman of Columbus, Ohio, has been a vocal critic of electronic voting machines. He co-wrote the book, "What Happened in Ohio: A Documentary Record of Theft and Fraud in the 2004 Election." His upcoming book is titled "The Strip & Flip Selection of 2016: Five Jim Crows & Electronic Election Theft."
Here are excerpts from his interview:

Host Amy Goodman: Your concern over the years that electronic voting could be used to steal elections. Are you still concerned about this?
Harvey Wasserman: Well, electronic voting was used to steal the presidential election right here in Ohio in 2004. John Kerry was the rightful winner in 2004 over George W. Bush. The secretary of state at the time, J. Kenneth Blackwell, and the governor, Robert Taft, used their power of electronic vote count to flip the vote to George W. Bush from John Kerry.
AMY: How do you know this?
HARVEY: We watched it—I grew up here, Amy. We watched it, totally, right up close and personal. We did the accounting. I work with a political scientist named Bob Fitrakis. We’re about to come out with another book, The Strip & Flip of the 2016 Selection. They are stripping the voter rolls—and Greg Palast, the great investigative reporter, is doing great on this—removing African Americans, Hispanics, people who might incline to vote progressive, and they—so that—in 2004, they stripped 300,000 people from the voter rolls here in the urban areas. Bush only won by less than 120 [thousand].
And this year, about 80 percent of the vote nationally will be cast on electronic voting machines. There is no verifiability. In six key swing states—Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Michigan, Iowa and Arizona—you have Republican governors and Republican secretaries of state, and no method of verifying the electronic vote count. At midnight or whenever it is on election night, those two guys can go in there with an IT person and flip the outcome of an electronically counted vote within about 60 seconds. So all this millions and millions of dollars, people out campaigning and so on, can be negated by an electronic vote flip late at night on election night, and there is no way to verify what’s happened.

AMY: They didn’t do this with President Obama in 2008.
HARVEY: They did. He had too many votes; he was too far out. They couldn’t—it would have taken them too many, to flip too many states. [inaudible] believe Obama won by well over 10 million votes. The last—the final vote count was in—official, was in 7 or 8 million.
AMY: But what gives you this idea?
HARVEY: Because we’ve seen it happen. When you compare exit polls, which are generally accurate to within 1 percent, with the electronic outcome, there are huge variations. And we have documented many dozens of different things that they have done over the years to flip electronic votes.
AMY: How does e-voting, electronic voting, work? And who controls the controls on it?
HARVEY: Well, that’s the key. The electronic voting machines are owned by private corporations, which are Republican in orientation, generally. And the courts have ruled that the source code on these electronic voting machines is proprietary. So, even the governments that buy or lease these machines have no access to a final verification process. Even Ronald Reagan said, "Trust, but verify." And we know that the vote count was flipped in 2004. We know it was flipped in Volusia County in 2000.
AMY: Where is Volusia County?
HARVEY: In Florida, when Al Gore basically was the rightful winner, and George W. Bush won the election. I mean, the only great—
AMY: And they were electronic voting machines?
HARVEY: In Volusia County, they were, yes. In the southern part of Florida, they used butterfly ballots, as you’ll recall. The only good thing we can say about George W. Bush is the American people never actually elected him president. And we’re looking now at 2016, at an election that will be very easily flipped, in those six key swing states and elsewhere.
AMY: What do you think is the answer?
HARVEY: We have to have universal, hand-counted paper ballots. And Bernie Sanders has endorsed that. We have to have automatic voter registration, where people can monitor the registration rolls, because people are being stripped from the registration rolls, mostly, of course, African-American and Hispanic. And so we’re going through this huge charade here of a national campaign, primaries and then a general election, where hundreds of millions of dollars will be spent, and on election night, in 60 seconds, the actual outcome can be flipped electronically in key swing states with no verification whatsoever.

AMY: How do you think they can be protected, people can be sure that their vote is counted, that they cast, even using electronic voting machines?
HARVEY: They can’t be. You cannot verify an electronic voting machine. They are privately owned by private corporations, and the proprietary software prevents the public from getting access to the actual vote count.
AMY: Why do you think just Republicans would do it?
HARVEY: Oh, no, Democrats definitely do it. I have—we have strong questions about Rahm Emanuel being re-elected in Chicago, for example. We have no doubt that Scott Walker stole his re-election in Wisconsin.
AMY: Based on what?
HARVEY: Based on the miraculous discovery of several thousand votes in a so-called ‘glitched’ computer voting machine that gave him a victory where it was clearly a defeat. You know, this is stuff that’s been going on a long time. These methods were perfected more or less overseas by the CIA and other covert and overt operations. They came back. It started in 1988 with George H.W. Bush using electronic voting machines in New Hampshire to beat Bob Dole in the 1988 primary. And we have seen since then the use of electronic voting machines all across the country to flip elections after they have stripped the voter rolls. And, you know—

AMY: When you say "stripping the voter rolls," you mean?
HARVEY: Yes, well, Greg Palast has reported on this. In Florida 2000, 90,000 mostly black and Hispanic voters were stripped out of the voter rolls before the election, in a vote count that was won by 600 votes. And in Ohio 2004, 300,000 voters in primarily urban areas were stripped off the voter rolls. People showed up to vote in the same precinct—as did I, by the way—they were—I was denied my absentee ballot, and we had a federal lawsuit on this, which we won and went nowhere after that.

It’s a nightmare. And it’s not democracy. I mean, Bernie Sanders has shown that the election—that the campaign finance is rigged, that the economy is rigged. Why wouldn’t they take the very small next step to rig the electronic voting machines?

LIVING IN FEAR? Don't Lose Hope!

Speaking Of The Light:
Where’s The End Of The Tunnel?

Living In Fear & Despair?
Don’t Lose Hope!
Trust in Allah, Stay The Course,
And Do Your Part!

(M. Javed Naseem)

This is the ‘End-Time’ and we are the last nation on this planet Earth. Some say that we are being tested by Allah through some severe trials. That’s not true. Allah tests those who seek Allah’s pleasure and guidance; who are pious and righteous. Allah puts them to trials to test their Faith (Iman) and sincerity. But those who are neither pious nor righteous and have been spreading corruption and mischief in the Earth, are normally punished. They are warned and then punished – unless they repent, change their ways and seek Allah’s forgiveness.

The Muslim Ummah is going through a lengthy period of turmoil. Years of turbulent politics, decades of bloodshed, infighting, intrigues, conspiracies, and tyranny by the inept ruler-cum-dictators have left the Muslim countries in shambles. People live in fear and despair considering the situation hopeless. But there are still some honest and sincere people who are staunch believers and have strong faith in Allah. They hold the key to success – Hope.

****************************
Hope is greater than all despair!
Hope is stronger than all tyrants!
Only hope can get you through!
Hope connects you to your Lord!

****************************

The Muslim world is marred by corruption, incompetence and self-interests. There is no leadership; there is no direction and people have been stuck in the tunnel so long that they don’t see any light at the end of it. As a matter of fact, they do not even see the end of the tunnel. Therefore, they opt for ad-hoc solutions, stop-gap arrangements and short-term compromises to survive. In this situation, the crop of corrupt politicians and opportunists is flourishing. They are the biggest winners while voters are the losers – as usual.

**********************************
Don’t fall into the same trap again and
again! Don’t accept and compromise
with ‘lesser evil’. An evil is an evil,
lesser or greater, does not matter!

****************************
We have been commanded to “hold tightly together unto the rope of Allah” so that we succeed. We were also commanded to enjoin righteousness and forbid evil. We have failed very miserably on all counts. We are leaving behind only troubles for our younger generation and we don’t feel ashamed. We talk of Islam but we don’t demonstrate it in our actions. We discuss Islamic laws and code of conduct but we don’t live by it. We want material benefits.

We have become hypocrites (Munaafiqeen). Unless we do our duty to Allah, we are not going to get the respite. We won’t enjoy the mercy and blessings of Allah if we don’t obey His commandments. Allah says: “Remember Me, I’ll remember you!” If we show our arrogance through disobedience to the Lord Almighty, we’ll keep suffering. We hope for mercy and welfare but it comes through repentance only. We should seek Allah’s forgiveness by repenting and changing our ways. Only then He’ll bless us.

“Say: O my Servants who have transgressed
against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy
of Allah; for Allah forgives all sins; for He is
Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
(al-Quran 39:53)

Our problem is that we have abandoned the Quran and Islam. We go for short-cuts – short-cut to success; short-cut to power; short-cut to wealth; shorty-cut to comfortable life; and even short-cut to Paradise!
We don’t want to walk on the ‘right path’ because it's difficult and has no short-cut.

Remember one thing! There are no short-cuts to Jannah (Paradise). Islam is a way of life – a Deen; and there are no short-cuts in the Deen! Islam is a package and you can’t choose the elements you find easy and discard the elements that you consider difficult.

If we study the Quran, we’ll see that Allah has warned us at many different stages. He tells us clearly that if we remain true and sincere Believers; practice righteousness and patience; and promote the Truth, we’ll succeed. Otherwise we would be in loss – both in this world and in the Hereafter.

”By (the token of) Time (through the ages),
verily man is in loss, except those who
believe, and do righteous deeds, and (join
together) in the mutual teaching of Truth,
and of Patience and Constancy.”
(al-Quran 103:1-3)

Who Will Cast The First Stone?

Who Will Cast The First Stone?
Look Into The Mirror
Before Condemning Others!

(M. Javed Naseem)

The Muslim millionaires should be ashamed of their lavish lifestyle before offering lip-service to the poor. You cannot talk about the problems of the homeless people while living in palaces and air-conditioned mansions of several acres! Only hypocrites (Munaafiqeen) do that.

In this weird world, a poor man criticizes the rich and accuses them of corruption, sometimes rightly so. Similarly, a rich man criticizes the richer opponents and accuses them of corruption and wrong-doing. Why? Because they are competing with each other for the lifestyles of the rich and famous. They don’t see around them how the less fortunate and the poor are living. It’s not their problem! It's not piety to spend your own money on luxury living and spend other people's money on charity, and then show off to take credit. It is a violation of God's command. The Quran is full of Allah's commands: "Spend YOUR money!"

"And spend of YOUR substance in the cause of Allah, and
make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction."
(al-Quran 2:195)

"Not those who spend of THEIR substance, to be seen of men,
but have no faith in Allah and the Last Day: If any take the Evil
One for their intimate, what a dreadful intimate he is!"
(al-Quran 4:38)

"Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and
spend out of what We have provided for them."
(al-Quran 2:3)

"... to spend of YOUR substance, out of love for Him... "
(al-Quran 2:177)

The graduates of Catholic schools
don’t understand what the Quran says.
But do they understand what the Bible
says? If they don’t know the teachings
of Muhammad (s.a.w.), do they follow
the teachings of Jesus? If they don’t,
they are just bigots and hypocrites.

**********************************

Here’s a reminder from the Bible!
Pericope de Adultera — is a famous passage found in the Gospel of John 7:53 – 8:11. In this episode, after Jesus has sat down in the temple to teach some of the people, after he spent the previous night at the Mount of Olives, a group of scribes and Pharisees confront Jesus, interrupting his teaching session. They bring in an adulteress, and invite Jesus to pass judgment upon her: Should she be stoned, as Moses taught, or not?
Jesus first ignores the interruption, and writes on the ground as though he does not hear them. But after the religious leaders continue their challenge, he states that the one who is without sin is the one who should cast the first stone. The religious leaders depart, leaving Jesus and the woman in the midst of the crowd.
Jesus then asks the woman if anyone has condemned her. When she answers that no one has condemned her, Jesus says that he, too, does not condemn her, and tells her to go and sin no more.

Ephesians 4:29
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”

1-John 4:20
“If a man says, ‘I love God’, and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?”
1-Peter 2:17
“Honor all (men)! Love the brotherhood! Fear God! Honor the king!”

Hebrews 13:1
“Let brotherly love continue!”

And here’s what Allah has commanded us to do! The Quran tells us:

“And hold fast, all together, by the rope
which Allah (stretches out for you), and
be not divided among yourselves; and
remember with gratitude Allah's favor on
you; for you were enemies and He joined
your hearts in love, so that by His Grace,
you became brethren; and you were on the
brink of the pit of Fire, and He saved you
from it. Thus does Allah make His Signs
clear to you, that you may be guided.”
(al-Quran 3:103)

“And those who came after them say: Our
Lord! Forgive us, and our brethren who
came before us into the Faith, and leave not,
in our hearts, rancor (or sense of injury)
against those who have believed. Our Lord!
You are indeed Full of Kindness, Most Merciful."
(al-Quran 59:10)

We can promote love and compassion; we can combat hate, prejudice and division; we can thwart apartheid and bias; we can unite the mankind by helping each other. The choice is ours!

Now, there is one question about the role of Muslim leaders in this situation: What are they doing?
The answer is: Nothing, as usual. The Muslim countries are being ruled by hypocrites (the ‘Munaafiqeen’) who neither follow the Quran nor the teachings of the Prophet (s.a.w.). Because, if they did, they won’t be entitled to the positions they hold today. They are just puppets.

We need direction and it comes through true guidance. And the true guidance comes from the Quran. We should avoid jumping quickly to Fatwahs (judgments). Just do your best to help others and let Allah be the True Judge!

In the battle between the ‘good’ and the ‘evil’, it is the ‘good’ that is bound to succeed as the ‘evil’ is bound to lose – that is the law of nature. But that does not mean that we should sit back, do nothing and wait for the ‘good’ to overcome. We must do our part as per the Quranic guidelines. Allah tells us that the dwellers of the Heaven will ask the dwellers of the Hell about their plight. Here’s their answer:

“(They will be) in Gardens (of Delight);
they will question each other, and (ask) of
the Sinners: "What led you into Hellfire?"
They will say: "We were not of those who
prayed; nor were we of those who fed the
indigent. But we used to talk vanities with
vain talkers; and we used to deny the
Day of Judgment, until there came to
us (the Hour) that is certain."
(al-Quran 74:40-47)

So, disobedience to God (not praying, not thanking and not glorifying His name; and not following His commands); not feeding the hungry; not helping the poor/needy; and denying the Day of Judgment are the main causes of our downfall. If we don’t change the course, we are Hell-bound.

DISOBEYING ALLAH And Claiming To Love Him

Disobeying Allah And
Claiming To Serve Islam!
Islam Refutes Hypocrisy

(M. Javed Naseem)

”By (the token of) Time (through the ages),
verily man is in loss, except those who
believe, and do righteous deeds, and (join
together) in the mutual teaching of Truth,
and of Patience and Constancy.”
(al-Quran 103:1-3)

*********************************
We are disobeying Allah and His
Messenger, and at the same time we
are killing others for blasphemy as if
Allah had appointed us as Judges to
hold others accountable. We are
making a mockery of Islam (Allah’s
Deen) and this is the real blasphemy!

**********************************

“And what think those who invent lies
against Allah, of the Day of Judgment?
Verily Allah is full of bounty to mankind,
but most of them are ungrateful.”
(al-Quran 10:60)

We are ungrateful liars and Allah is very well aware of it.  That’s why He refers to it in many different verses of the Quran. It’s really ironic that we go through those verses and take no heed. Are we bold or shameless? Are we ignorant or arrogant? Allah invites us to ponder over the verses of the Quran but we pay no attention and ignore all warnings of severe punishment.
We have fabricated our own brand of Islam and the ignorant Mullah has played a big role in it. We have ignored the Quran but we support our arguments by fake Ahadith (sayings of the Prophet, s.a.w.). Thousands of ridiculous Ahadith are easily available whereas to find a reference from the Quran we need to study it. And that’s hard work for us. Promoting, spreading and sharing fake Ahadith is also blasphemy! Where is the punishment and where are the Ghazis and Shaheeds to judge others?
Allah and His Prophet (s.a.w.) have forbidden us to kill anybody unless he has killed somebody and the court has awarded him the death penalty. Allah and His Prophet have forbidden us to hurt others and damage their property but we come out on the streets to burn others’ houses, cars, shops, damage others’ property and steal electronic goods from stores – all in the name of Allah and His Prophet! That’s not Islam! That’s Haraam (forbidden) in Islam.

We kill other people because of difference of opinion; because they belong to a different religious sect; because they did what we did not like; because they belong to a different culture or race; etc., etc. And we feel proud of that killing and attribute it to Islam, to Allah or to His Prophet. We think that we are doing a favor to Islam by such acts. How stupid and ignorant! Why don’t we study the Quran?

Allah has guaranteed us that there is the Guidance and Mercy in the Quran. But we prefer to go to an ignorant Mullah to seek guidance. How can a man guide you when he himself needs guidance? Don’t say that the Quran is difficult! No, that is NOT true. And if you say that, you are committing a blasphemy! You are lying against Allah’s statement:

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
“And We have indeed made the Quran easy
to understand and remember; then is there any
that will receive admonition?”
(al-Quran 54:17)

The Almighty has repeated this guarantee four times in a single Surah (Surah al-Qamar)! So how can you deny that? If you refute Allah’s statement, you can’t call yourself a Muslim or a Believer! Period!

Our Role-Model:

Each one of us, who claims to be a Muslim or a Believer, should take a minute and think! We should ask ourselves:
What has Allah commanded us to do in this world and what are we doing? What has Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) taught us by his character, conduct, dealings and lifestyle, and how are we living? We are fighting with others, violating their rights, hurting their feelings, breaking their hearts, damaging their property and unlawfully holding things that don’t belong to us. Still we proudly announce that we are Muslims! What kind of Islamic conduct are we promoting?

“You have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a
beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose
hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who
engages much in the praise of Allah”.
(al-Quran 33:21)

We Muslims claim to love Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) although we do many things in our daily life against his teachings and against his ‘Sunnah’.
The best way to keep the image of Prophet Muhammad in our hearts and minds is to follow him (his Sunnah), obey his commands which are, as a matter of fact, based on the commands of Allah in the Quran.
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) was the simplest person on earth who raised his personality on piety and righteousness. He promoted simple and honest living.

Imagine!
Imagine your Prophet who never had much wealth and property to be eligible to pay Zakat!

Imagine your Prophet who never ate three meals in a day; who rarely ate white wheat bread; who seldom ate meat or beef or chicken (only occasionally)!

Imagine your Prophet who had just three dates (sometimes only one) with water as breakfast!

Imagine your Prophet who fasted for many days every month (every Monday and every Thursday; as per some narrations every 13th, 14th and 15th of the Islamic month)!

Imagine your Prophet who never (NEVER) told a lie, no matter what! His honesty was exemplary.

Imagine your Prophet who never sold any defective article while trading without telling the customer the truth!

Imagine your Prophet who never hit his wife, daughter or any woman!

Imagine your Prophet who used to help his wives in the household!

Imagine your Prophet who helped the orphans, the needy, the disabled, the poor, the sick and gave away everything in charity that was in excess to his basic needs!

Now, do we follow this Prophet whom Allah has declared the “best role-model” for mankind?

Do You Know How He Behaved?

"Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) did not swear at anyone, nor was he rude, nor did he curse anyone. If he desired to reprimand someone, he would say: ‘What is wrong with him, may dust be cast in his face!" (Sahih Bukhari, No.5684).

Mother of the believers Aayeshah (r.a.a.) said:
"The trait and characteristic which the Prophet (s.a.w.) hated most was lying. A man would tell a lie in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) and he (the Prophet) would hold it against him, until he knew that he (the man) repented.”  (Tirmidthi, No.1973).

What Did He Eat?

From Tirmidhi:
Mother of the believers, Aayesha (r.a.a.) said: "Till the demise of Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.), his family never ate a full stomach of bread made of barley for two consecutive days".
Note: It is possible that they may have eaten a full stomach of dates, but not of bread.

Abu Umamah Al-Baahil said: "Bread made of barley was never left over in the house of Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.).”
Note: Whenever bread made of barley was prepared, the quantity was so little that there was none left over.

Ibn Abbaas (r.a.a.) reported: "Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) and his family spent many consecutive nights without food, because there would be no supper. The bread of Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) was mostly made of barley".
Note: Sometimes, wheat-bread was also available, but rarely.
Some of the companions were wealthy but the Prophet (s.a.w.) did not let anyone know, nor did his family members let anyone know of their financial state.

Someone asked Sahl bin Saad: "Did Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) ever eat bread made of white (fine) flour?" He replied: "White flour may not have come before Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) until his last days".
It was then asked: "Did you people use sieved flour in the time of Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.)?”
He replied "No, it was not used".
He was then asked: "How was bread from barley prepared (because barley flour had more particles/husk and hard grains in it and needed sifting)?”
Sahl replied: "We used to blow into the flour and the big particles flew out. The rest was made into dough".

Anas (r.a.a.) reported: "Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) never ate food from a table, nor from small plates, nor was ‘chapati’ (a type of thin bread) ever made for him.”
Yunus said: “I asked Qatadah: “Then on what did Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) put and eat his food?” He replied: “On this leather spread (table-cloth).”
Note: It was a common practice that people (families and friends) would spread a piece of cloth on the floor and put food items on it and eat together. Allama Munaawi and Mulla Ali Qaari say that it has always been the custom of the rich/arrogant people to eat on a table. It has been stated in the 'Kaukab-e Durri' that in our times, it is a common practice to follow the Christian traditions, but it is “makruh tahreemi”. We have been prohibited from imitating non-Muslims in the manners of eating, drinking, dressing and even worshipping.

Masruq narrated: "I went to Aayesha (r.a.a.). She ordered food for me and said, 'I never eat a stomach-full but feel like crying, then I do cry”.
Masruq asked: “Why do you feel like crying?”
She replied: “I remember that condition of Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) on which he left us for the next world. I swear by Allah that he never filled his stomach twice in one day with meat or bread".

Anas (r.a.a.) said: "Till the end of his life, Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) never ate on a table and never ate a ‘Chapati’.”

Numaan bin Bashir said: "Are you not in the luxuries of eating and drinking? I have seen Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) not having ordinary dates to fill his stomach".

Umm Haani (r.a.a.), a cousin of the Prophet, s.a.w., narrates: "Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) came to me (to my house at the time when Makkah was conquered) and asked if there was something to eat. I replied: “No, there is only dry bread and vinegar”. Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) said: “Bring it. That house is not without a curry which has vinegar in it”.

Note: This incident has been related by Ibn Abbas (r.a.a.) in more detail. Bayhaqi has made ‘takhrij’ (derivation) of this narration which is briefly mentioned here:
“At the time when Makkah was conquered, Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) went to the house of Umm Haani (r.a.a.) and asked: 'Is there something to eat?' She replied: ‘O Messenger of Allah, there is only dry bread, and I feel ashamed to present it to you’. Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) said: 'Do not worry, bring it'.
She presented it. The Prophet (s.a.w.) broke the dry bread into pieces, soaked them in water and added salt. Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) then asked: 'Have you any curry?' She said that there was nothing besides vinegar. He requested it and poured some on the soaked bread, ate it and thanked Allah. He then said: ‘O Umm Haani, the house that has vinegar in it, is never without a curry'.

Yusuf bin Abdullah bin Salaam narrated: "I once observed Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) take a piece of bread and put a date on it and said: ‘This is the curry (‘saalen’) for this (bread)’, and then ate it.”
Note: Because dates were not regarded as a curry, Rasul-Allah (s.a.w.) suggested that dates could be used in place of curry (‘saalen’).

Race For Materialism
We are competing with each other, or with the rich, in enjoying the material life; accumulating wealth and objects; in showing off our luxury lifestyle, cars, houses, dresses, even the educational institutions.

Abdullah bin Masud (r.a.a.) narrated: “The Prophet (s.a.w.) said, "Do not wish to be like anyone except in two cases:
The first is: A person, whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously (according to what Allah has ordered in a just and right way).
The second is the one whom Allah has given ‘Hikmah’ (wisdom, the knowledge of the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet, s.a.w.), and he acts according to it and teaches it to others."
(Bukhari, Book 3, Chapter 15, No.73)

PLEASE YOUR CREATOR! Materialism leads to Hellfire.

Please Your Creator
By Pleasing His Creation!

Don’t be greedy! The race for
wealth and materialism will lead
you to Hellfire via grave.
So, wake up! It’s getting late!

(M. Javed Naseem)

We are all in a race with each other to accumulate wealth and material things. We are in competition with others who we think are better than us or materially or financially better off. This race has no rules, therefore, everybody is using all fair and unfair means to achieve their goals. In this process, we ignore all norms of ethics, violate all codes of conduct and break all principles of morality.
We are trying to please our families and friends but forget that it’s God we should be trying to please. God loves us, so it’s not difficult to please Him.
Please God by pleasing His people (the poor, the hungry, the needy, the handicapped, the orphans, the sick and injured, the refugees, the victims of war, atrocities and injustice, and the old and the weak)! Of course, you cannot please everybody but do as much as you can! It’s your intention, followed by a good effort that counts. And you would be rewarded by Allah tremendously.

God is the ultimate Truth. If you are a believer (believing that God is One; Only He is worthy of worship; He is the Supreme Creator and Commander, Sustainer of mankind and all living creatures, and the Controller of the universe Who is masterly running this marvelous, awesome, miraculous and mind-boggling show; and Whom we shall be answering on the Day of Judgment, then you’ll surrender to His will. You’ll obey His commands and follow His instructions and live by the rules He prescribed because you realize that, eventually, there is no escape from Him.

Fear Allah! The best way to
avoid Hellfire is to avoid
His disobedience.

We are His Creation! He is the Master and we are His slaves or servants. If we understand this relationship, we’ll never go astray! The Quran is God’s last and final revelation and thus the best and most authentic source of guidance of our time. The Devil (Shaitan) is out there to mislead us because he is our enemy. He never liked that Allah made him bow down in front of man (Adam) as he thought that he was superior to Adam. So, the war between the two is on and will continue till the final day. Our defense and protection lies in that Book (the Quran) that tells us how to defend and fight back. It is up to us if we want to do that!

“Of those We have created are people
who guide (others) with truth. And
edtablish justice therewith.”
 (al-Quran 7:181)

As human beings, we should remember one thing that Shaitan was cursed and degraded by Allah because of his arrogance and disobedience. You cannot say ‘no’ to your Creator or Master and still hope for His mercy! You can’t take it for granted. He is our Sole Provider and we owe Him gratitude. We can’t thank Him enough for all the blessings.

Those of us who don’t accept this notion, become guilty of subordination and disobedience. And we should know (from the Scriptures) the punishment for disobedience – it’s the Hellfire!

“In the Gardens (Paradise) they will ask
one another about the guilty: What has
brought you to this Hellfire? They will
answer: We were not of those who prayed;
nor did we feed the poor. But we used to
talk vanities with vain talkers; and
we used to deny the Day of Judgment,
till the inevitable came unto us”.
(al-Quran 74:40-47)

In the above verses, Allah is talking about the disobedient folks, the dwellers of Hell. We can be smart and learn a lesson from it, therefore, not doing what they used to do to merit the Hellfire.

*******************************
Remember death and don’t let the
pleasures of this world seduce you!
Resist the temptation! Money is
evil if not spent in God’s way. Don’t
ruin yourself with your own hands!
Uphold justice and fair-play!
*******************************

Those of us who pray, pay thanks, spend in Allah’s way; and those who fight for Allah’s cause, they are the good believers. And Allah has promised to reward the good.

“Those who spend (freely), whether in
prosperity or in adversity; who restrain
anger and pardon (all) people; for Allah
loves those who do good.”
 (al-Quran 3:134)

When your belief in Allah is total, your trust in Him is not shaky, and you look up to Him for everything, you have the highest degree of faith. In response, Allah takes care of you and your affairs. He creates the means and resources from nowhere.
“Is not Allah sufficient
for His servant?”
(Quran 39:36)

Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim, a.s.) had total faith in Almighty Allah. He would not deviate from the right path because he had totally surrendered to the will of God. So, when the people of Nimrod decided to throw him into the fire, he did not budge. He knew it was Allah’s will, therefore, he accepted it. At that time angel Gabriel came to Abraham and asked if he could do anything to help him out. Prophet Abraham replied: No, I cannot ask you for anything because, if it’s Allah’s will, you cannot help me.

Now, this is the height of faith (Iman). Prophet Abraham used to praise his Lord and say:

Our Lord! In You we put our trust,
and unto You we turn in repentance,
and unto You is the final journey.”
(al-Quran 60:4)

With total surrender to the will of your Lord, you belong to Allah and you expect things from Allah alone, nobody else. The scriptures tell us how Allah then took care of Abraham. His promise is always valid.

“In the end We deliver Our messengers
and those who believe: Thus is it fitting
on Our part that We should deliver
those who believe!”
 (al-Quran 10:103)
Here’s a story about strong faith (Iman)! A saint narrates:
“I, along with my companion, left the town and started living   in the mountains where remembrance of Allah was our main motive and occupation. My companion was living in a cave not far from me. In the beginning we were surviving on plants, herbs and vegetation. Then Almighty God made some special arrangement for my nourishment. A female deer started coming to my place every day and would stand near me. I started suckling her milk. After that she would leave and come back the next day at the same time. This became her routine and continued for months.

“They shall have all they wish for,
of their Lord’s bounty. Such is the
reward of those who do good.”
(al-Quran 39:34)

One day my companion came to see me. He said that there was a caravan camping nearby. Let us go there and ask them for some milk and foodstuff. I refused to go but he seemed desperate and insisted. Finally, I gave in and went along with him. The caravan people treated us good and gave us some food to carry also. The next day, I had a big surprise! I never saw the deer again. I used to come out of the cave around the same time everyday and wait for her. But she never showed up again. Then I realized what a big mistake I had made. I counted more on the food from the caravan people than from Allah. Ultimately, I lost both.

When you try to break the shell of your faith to come out as an ‘independent’ (in truth, dependent on humans), and your trust in God is not total, the greed creeps in and you lose everything. We should have been content with whatever provision Allah had made for us because He knows best what is good for us; and how much!”

“Allah has full knowledge of your enemies.
Allah is sufficient as a Guardian, and
Allah is sufficient as a Helper.”
(al-Quran 4:45)

So, the most important element for a believer is the ‘Faith’ (Iman). If your faith is strong (your trust in God is total), you are solid like a mountain, otherwise you are a heap of sand that’s scattered whenever the wind blows.

Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) said that early part of this Ummah (early Muslims) achieved their salvation with strong faith in Allah and disenchantment of the world. But the latter part of this Ummah (today’s Muslims) will be destroyed because of their love of wealth and high hopes.

“Woe to every slanderer and-backbiter,
Who has gathered wealth (of this world)
and arranged it. He thinks that his wealth
will make him immortal. By no means!
He will be sure to be thrown into that
(blazing Fire) which breaks to pieces.”
(al-Quran 104:1-4)

According to another Hadith, the Apostle of Allah (s.a.w.) said that when a man gets older, his heart feels younger with two things: One is his love of the world and the other his countless high hopes.
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) advised people to remember death every night, and they should remember how they are going to become dust with dust (in the grave). And the one who remembers the Hereafter, cannot be seduced by the pleasures of this world.
Those who start preparing for the Hereafter, they have strong faith in Allah. When they start loving Allah, they start slowly withdrawing from the world. The wealth and other material ornaments of the world cannot attract them any more.

Umme Waleed (the daughter of Umar bin al-Khattab, r.a.) narrates that once Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) came out of the house in the evening and addressed people by saying:
“Don’t you people feel any shame?”
The companions said: “O Apostle of Allah, shame about what?”
The Prophet (s.a.w.) replied: “You accumulate so much that you can’t even eat that; and you construct  (or buy) so many houses that you can’t even live in them; and you have so many high hopes that you can’t even fulfill them. Are you not ashamed of all that?”
The scholars explain that it means that one should have only that much food for the day that he/she needs to live; and only that house in which he/she lives. The wealth is not for accumulating. One must spend in charity whatever is extra after fulfilling the basic needs.
You can give in charity only when you have strong faith in Allah – when you consider Allah as your Sole Provider. You give away in His name and you don’t have any fear about the future needs. That’s the kind of faith which will earn you paradise.

When you love the world and its material things, you are afraid of death. You want to enjoy life on this earth and live forever. You don’t want to die. On the other hand, a Muslim knows that everybody will die one day, sooner or later. Therefore, he has no fear. The only thing he is worried about is the accountability on the Day of Judgment. The more you have in this world, the longer the accountability process would be. And that can tear you apart.
Therefore, the wise men live in this world with the minimum and try to get the maximum reward for their good deeds to carry over.
So, try to seek His pleasure, not the worldly pleasures! Try to live by His rules and not by ‘other’ people’s rules. That’s the only way to enjoy the power of Iman (faith).
