thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful.”

The so-called ‘champions’ of human rights are violating human rights of weaker nations; and the champions of democracy are trampling the democratic values by using their veto power to suppress the voice of the majority. Democracy has become the ‘might is right’! What a shameless hypocrisy! You deny the majority of the people of the world their rights and claim to be exercising your own democratic right? What a joke!

Man has become evil. Greed turns him into a beast and he loses sense of logic, reason, dignity and justice. He wants to serve his own interest, no matter what. But there is always an end to everything. Anything that goes up, comes down. That’s the law of Nature. History of the world tells us that when Man is unable to thwart evil and deliver justice to the victims of aggression and oppression, God intervenes and delivers justice. The helpless poor victims of Palestine, Syria, Libya, Iraq, Kashmir, Somalia and Africa are all waiting for that now. And it can come anytime!

The poor helpless victims of the weaker nations can’t do much against the oppression and aggression of the rich and powerful. Their own leaders sold them out. They are told to be patient, therefore, they are waiting patiently. How things would change, no one knows. But there’s hope and everybody is clinging to it.

The pious and the righteous tell us that this is a big trial for the righteous and we have to pass through it with patience and prayer. The real life – the permanent life – is in the Hereafter. This worldly life is a temporary game show. It is easy to believe but very hard and difficult to endure! Muslims can get the consolation from the Quran:

“Say: Short is the enjoyment of this world.

The Hereafter is the best for those who do

right. Never will you be dealt with unjustly

in the very least!”

(al-Quran 4:77)

The tyrants, the aggressors and the oppressors don’t care about the Torah, the Bible or the Quran. They don’t even fear God because God allowed them for a very long time to continue their evil works. Some of them don’t even believe that they are doing something wrong. But God gave them a long leash – enough time to change their ways, repent and rectify the situation by bringing justice and peace back into people’s lives.
If the tyrants and oppressors of mankind don't budge, God knows well how to bend them, even break them. The arrogant should know the history of the earlier nations that were destroyed because they resorted to evil-doing and did not stop or repent. Here's the promise of Allah:

“So, by your Lord, without doubt, We shall

assemble them together, and (also) the Evil Ones

(the Devils); then shall We bring them forth on

their knees round about Hell. Then shall We

certainly drag out from every sect all those

who were worst in obstinate rebellion against

(Allah), the Most Gracious. And certainly

We know best those who are most worthy

of being burned therein.”

(al-Quran 19:68-70)

The trouble-makers are under the strong influence of the Devil. But they don’t realize that one day, the Devil is going to abandon them and they’ll have to face the music alone. The Devil (Shaitan) was once close to God and used to hang out with angels in the Heaven. He knows very well the justice system of the Divine. Therefore, he’ll keep himself clear of any responsibility for misleading or misguiding human beings. He would say: ‘I didn’t force you to do evil. I just talked but you did the actions. You made your own choices!’

Can you imagine that Devil fears God and acknowledges His severe punishment but we humans don’t!

“And (remember) when Shaitan (Satan) made

their (evil) deeds seem fair to them and said,

"No one of mankind can overcome you this Day

(of the battle of Badr) and verily, I am near to

you." But when the two forces came in sight

of each other, he ran away and said "Verily,

I have nothing to do with you. Verily! I see

what you see not. Lo! I fear Allah for

Allah is Severe in punishment."

(al-Quran 8:48)

We have brought the world by our inaction or evil deeds, where it is today – to the lowest ebb. Those who were clever with manipulative minds, took advantage of us. They used us to their benefit. Now, we are crying foul but there’s no referee to blow the whistle and stop the game. Those who are conducting the game, are already bought up. So, let us suffer the consequences of our ‘inaction’ patiently and pray to God, because when there was time for action, we did nothing. We were busy accumulating wealth, enjoying dance, music and getting laid. Now, we are reaping the harvest and crying! It’s better to cry before God as only HE can deliver us! We have already closed all doors. Only His door remains open 24/7 for the righteous. So, keep knocking and repenting! One day it’ll open, Insha-Allah!

I hope it opens during 2020!

prayer for celebrating My praise!”

(al-Quran 20:14)

The Command of our Almighty Creator is very clear in black and white. He is our Lord and we are His subjects, therefore, we are supposed to serve Him, please Him and sacrifice for Him. In all the Scriptures He has commanded us – His creation – to obey Him, pray to Him and thank Him. As a Supreme Creator of the universe, Allah the Almighty, has certain rights over us. It is only in our own interest that we deliver what is expected from us. Allah tells us in the Quran:

“I have only created Jinns and men,

that they may serve Me.”

(al-Quran 51:56)

So, we were created to serve Allah the Almighty, just like the Jinns who have the same obligation. Through many Prophets, Messengers and Holy Books, Allah has told us how to serve Him; what to do and what not to do. For a believer, one of the biggest obligation is the prayer (Salaat). We are supposed to bow down in prayers, along with others who offer prayer. Prayer (Salaat) keeps us away from evil and vulgarity. The Almighty commands us in the Quran:

“And be steadfast in prayer; practice regular

charity; and bow down your heads with those

who bow down (in worship)!”

(al-Quran 2:43)

Prayer was obligatory for all the nations that passed before us. Their Prophets and leaders guided them on how to serve the Almighty God. All Prophets and Messengers prayed (bowed down in prostration) to Allah. Mary, the mother of Jesus, was also commanded to do the same.

"O Mary! Worship your Lord devoutly;

prostrate yourself, and bow down (in prayer)

with those who bow down!"

(al-Quran 3:43)

Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), after completing the construction of Kaabah at Makkah, prayed to God and supplicated to Him for his children and descendants that they may be guided to offer prayer. He begged Allah with this supplication:

“My Lord! Make me one who establishes regular

prayer, and also (raise such) among my offspring,

our Lord! And accept my supplication!”

(al-Quran 14:40)

Prayer (Salaat) is simple and easy, so please don’t make it complicated for young kids. Teach them to offer only Fardh (Farz) or obligatory prayer in the beginning, so that they don’t feel burdened. As a matter of fact, Fardh (Farz) prayer is the real prayer. Allah will ask us, on the Day of Judgment, about the Fardh (Farz) Salaat. All other prayers fall into the category of ‘Nawafil’ (optional). If you offer them, you will get extra reward but if you don’t offer them, you won’t be asked, nor would you be punished. Nawafil have no limits. You can offer just 2 Rakaat or you can offer 100 Rakaat every day. There is NO fixed number for Nawafil. Offer whatever is easy!

Children’s upbringing (Tarbiah) and

education (Taaleem) is an obligation;

and you will be questioned about it

on the Day of Judgment!

Here is the break down for the Fardh (Farz) or obligatory prayer (Salaat):

Fajr: 2 Rakaat

Dhuhr: 4 Rakaat

Asr: 4 Rakaat

Maghrib: 3 Rakaat

Isha: 4 Rakaat

Total: 17 Rakaat in one day (24 hours)!

Witr Prayer: Witr is due for every night. It is like closing the account of a particular day. It is offered in odd number of Rakaat, i.e., 1, 3, 5, etc. You can offer it after Isha prayer or you can offer it before going to sleep. You have the time until Tahajjud prayer to offer Witr. Since there is no Salaat with one Rakaat, the Witr prayer is generally offered in 3 Rakaat, with Dua Qanout in the last Rakaat.

Nawafil: All prayers other than the Fardh (Farz) or obligatory prayer, are considered Nawafil, though people have given them different names/titles. You can offer as much as you can; there’s no limit.

Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) offered at least 12 Rakaat of Nawafil everyday along with the Fardh (Farz) prayers. Sometimes he offered more than than that. Plus, he offered 3 Rakaat of Witr every night before going to sleep or with Tahajjud prayer in the last part of the night, before Fajr.

The Nawafil the Prophet (s.a.w.) offered regularly, without fail, every day, are called ‘Sunnah Mowakdah’. They are 12 Rakaat in one day (24) hours. Then there are Nawafil the Prophet (s.a.w.) offered sometimes but not always. They are called ‘Sunnah ghair-Mowakdah’ or non-Mowakdah. For example, the Prophet (s.a.w.) sometimes offered 4 Rakaat before the Fardh/Farz prayer of Asr. But sometimes he did not do that. Here below is the break-down of the 12-Rakaat Sunnah Mowakdah the Prophet (s.a.w.) always offered:

Fajr: 2 Rakaat before the Fardh/Farz prayer.

Dhuhr: 4 Rakaat before the Fardh/Farz prayer and 2 Rakaat after the Fardh/Farz prayer.

Asr: None.

Maghrib: 2 Rakaat after the Fardh/Farz prayer.

Isha: 2 Rakaat after the Fardh/Farz prayer.

Total: 12 Rakaat in one day (24 hours).

Let your children start with only Fardh/Farz or obligatory prayers and then slowly and conveniently add Nawafil/Sunnah to it, so that they don’t feel burdened. Don’t rush; take your time! May Allah give our children strength and encouragement to follow His Deen (Islam) in letter and spirit. Salaat (prayer) is the biggest ‘mark’ of a Muslim. It separates him from non-Muslims. Muslims are required to offer 5 obligatory prayers each day. Allah the Almighty says in the Quran:

“Guard strictly your (habit of) prayers,

especially the middle prayer; and stand before

Allah in a devout (frame of mind)!”

(al-Quran 2:238)

When a believer offers prayer, he is in fact whispering with Allah, his Creator. That’s the best form of communication with the Divine. Believers are also advised to seek Allah’s help (or get in contact with Allah) through prayer and be patient. The Almighty says in the Quran:

“O you who believe! Seek help with patient

perseverance and prayer; for Allah is with

those who patiently persevere!”

(al-Quran 2:153)

September 11 marks the 19^th anniversary of the 9/11events, the destruction of the World Trade Center buildings, in 2001. The Free Press of the world believes that 9/11 was the biggest lie ever. It was the bloodiest deception; the outrageous rape of humanity; the mockery of Justice; and a horrifying fraud, committed by the forces of evil that are striving for the total hegemony and economic control of the world. It was used as a pretext to invade other countries; as an excuse to kill millions of innocent civilians; and as an effective tool to stage a crusade against Islam and Muslims. Let's us hope that truth will come out and justice will be delivered. I personally believe that the truth is out there on the internet. As far justice is concerned, don't count on it. There are some big sharks (Presidents, Prime Ministers, local Ministers, and other countries) involved and nobody has the courage to bring the culprits to task. They love to bargain and benefit.

that you may receive mercy!”

(al-Quran 6:155)

Allah, the Almighty, is “Rahman” – the Infinite Mercy! He created us and He loves us like a mother. Despite all our mistakes, disobedience and rebellion, He always forgives us whenever we seek His pardon and forgiveness. But we take things for granted and ignore His commands and fall into the trap of Satan (the Devil). The Scriptures are full of warnings but we disregard them and follow our own desires and lusts. We remember Allah only when we land in trouble.

The life on this Earth is a big game and we are told in advance how to play, and under what rules. All rules and regulations are explained in the Books men received. Even the penalties for breaking the rules and playing foul are detailed. Surprisingly, we still play foul and hope to get away with it. As a matter of fact, we just cannot get away with it; we are only fooling ourselves. The Laws of Nature are etched in stone. They are solid and unbreakable. If you try to break them, you will suffer not only in this world but also in the Hereafter. A small temporary material gain is not worth taking that risk. Nobody wants to lose the blessings that come with His mercy and grace.

“Were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah

on you, in this world and the Hereafter, a

grievous penalty would have seized you in

that you rushed glibly into this affair.”

(al-Quran 24:14)

The biggest problem with us the hypocrisy! It means that we say something else but we do something else. In other words, we cheat, we lie and we deceive. We do that too often in our daily life without fearing Allah and His warnings of punishment. And Allah knows it well. He tells us in the Quran:

“But you turned back thereafter. Had it not

been for the Grace and mercy of Allah to

you, you had surely been among the lost.”

(al-Quran 2:64)

Allah is so Gracious that He keeps showering His mercy upon us despite our disobedience, lies, cheating and deception. He is Rahman and Raheem – the Most Merciful. If He was not so merciful to us, we would have been ruined. We are taking undue advantage of His mercy. Under these conditions it is only reasonable that we, on our part, also show some appreciation, some gratitude, some respect to the rules He laid down for our own benefit.

“If it were not for Allah's grace and mercy

on you, and that Allah is Oft-Returning, full

of Wisdom, (you would be ruined indeed).”

(al-Quran 24:10)

It is impossible that we keep defying Allah’s rules, keep ignoring His warnings and keep enjoying His mercy and bounties forever. No, it is not possible. We break His laws, commit crimes but He does not punish us immediately. He always gives us enough (once again ‘enough’) time to mend our ways; repent and revert to Him with good deeds. But the arrogant and the stubborn keep disobeying Him and eventually merit the punishment. Never forget that His mercy is in His obedience! He reminds us in the Quran with many verses in different chapters.

“And obey Allah and the Messenger;

that you may obtain mercy!”

(al-Quran 3:132)

“Then those who believe in Allah, and hold fast

to Him, soon will He admit them to mercy and

grace from Himself, and guide them to Himself

by a straight path.”

(al-Quran 4:175)

Therefore, the success and the salvation are both in the obedience of the Lord Almighty. He has told us in the Quran what to do and what not to do in this world. We have to abide by His rules. Live and let live peacefully with compassion and sympathy! That’s the only way to happiness and satisfaction. We need to control our greed which is the main cause of all evil-thinking and evil-doing. We need to develop a sense of justice, equality and fairness; only then we would be able to create a reasonable, just and caring society where everybody cares about others.

We need Allah in our daily life. We cannot survive without His mercy. And His mercy can be won only by obeying His commands. Here’s the formula to win Allah’s mercy, as He suggested it to all believers.

“So establish regular Prayer and give regular

Charity; and obey the Messenger; that you

may receive mercy!”

(al-Quran 24:56)
