As per Business Recorder’s report, the agri-business sector, reacting to a recent approval of multiple biotech crops by the Technical Advisory and National Bio-safety committees, has claimed that new technologies will ensure Pakistani farmers an increase in domestic agriculture productivity. . . .

It also claimed the government gave the go-ahead in accordance with the national bio-safety laws and the international standard operating procedures. . . .

It also said the sub-committee for GM corn commercialization had thoroughly reviewed all the field trial reports, safety studies, product profiling, molecular characterization, allergenicity studies, and digestibility studies etc. to assess the risk and concluded that GM corn is as safe as its conventional counterpart.

Bullshit! That’s a LIE, far from the truthful research! There is nothing positive about GM corn. On the contrary, it is terribly hazardous for human health. It is toxic. It created tumors and deformity in rats during experimentation.

After the use of Monsanto’s BT cotton in 2002, the rate of suicide among Indian farmers increased drastically. The story started when 90% of Indian cotton farmers were forced to switch to Monsanto’s Bt crop hoping that Bt crops were pest resistant (so farmers did not have to buy Monsanto's costly herbicide). However after a while, Bt cotton’s pests resistant quality started to fade away so farmers had to again buy and use Monsanto’s costly herbicide.

The high cost of GMO seeds, extensive use of herbicides and great reduction in crop value have often times left farmers bankrupt and as a result many farmers are falling into the endless cycle of debt, depression, hopelessness and despair and they have no choice but to ends their lives. The figures provided by NY University School of Law show that just in 2009 alone, 17,638 of farmers committed suicide.
As a result of Monsanto’s costly GMO seeds, many families of farmers have lost their livelihood and lands and are left on their own to struggle with starvation and misery. 1.1 billion (which is 60% of Indian population) are directly or indirectly dependent on the agriculture.

Monsanto is responsible for dominating the market by forcing farmers to buy their seeds and chemicals. Seeds that die every year, so farmers are forced to buy new seeds.
