DANCING WITH GUNS/SWORDS AND ACCEPTING OPPRESSION

Dancing With Guns & Swords
‘It shows that we are brave’: Dancer

Why Not Use That Bravery To
Liberate Palestine, Iraq,
To Fight Tumult?
Allah Commands Us To Fight Oppression

(M. Javed Naseem)

“And why should you not fight in the cause of
Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated
(and oppressed)?- men, women, and children,
whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this
town, whose people are oppressors; and raise
for us from you the one who will protect; and
raise for us from you the one who will help!"
(al-Quran 4:75)

Allah has asked us why shouldn’t we fight in HIS cause and help the oppressed? We don’t give any direct answer to that, but we keep ourselves busy with worldly ‘fun’ and pleasure. And that constitutes a very sad answer. Here’s an example from the history of a true Muslim who missed a chance to fight in the cause of Allah but when he got the second chance, he sacrificed his life with pride:

Narrated Anas:
“My uncle Anas bin An-Nadr was absent from the Battle of Badr. He said, "O Allah's Apostle! I was absent from the first battle you fought against the pagans. (By Allah) if Allah gives me a chance to fight the pagans, no doubt, Allah will see how (bravely) I will fight." On the day of Uhud when the Muslims turned their backs and fled, he said, "O Allah! I apologize to You for what these (i.e. his companions) have done, and I denounce what these (i.e. the pagans) have done." Then he advanced and Sad bin Muadh met him. He said "O Sad bin Muadh! By the Lord of An-Nadr, Paradise! I am smelling its aroma coming from before (the mountain of) Uhud," Later on Sad said, "O Allah's Apostle! I cannot achieve or do what he (i.e. Anas bin An-Nadr) did. We found more than eighty wounds by swords and arrows on his body. We found him dead and his body was mutilated so badly that none except his sister could recognize him by his fingers." We used to think that the following Verse was revealed concerning him and other men of his sort:”

"Among the believers are men who have
been true to their covenant with Allah..."
(al-Quran 33.23)
(Bukhari, Vol. 4, Book 52, No. 61)

Yes, that’s the level of commitment and loyalty to Allah! More than 80 wounds on the body and he sacrificed his life in Allah’s way! Now, that’s brave. Dancing with guns and swords alone can never achieve that!

Now, watch the following video and see how today’s Muslims are dancing with guns and swords to impress women! They cannot use these guns/swords to help their brethren who are being massacred in Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, etc., every day.

(Al-Mazyood Band: 3ayesh Gawwy)

Did you watch the above-mentioned video? Nice. In the UAE and other Arab countries they love to dance with guns, swords and sticks. The Khaleeji TV channels always play such videos with pride. In this video, when a lady asked the dancers:

“What are you doing? Why are you dancing with guns”?
The man in-charge of the dancing group (or music band) replies: “This is our tradition to show that we are brave.”

Excuse me! Brave? I would consider you brave when you use the same guns and swords to liberate your Palestinian brethren from the Zionists’ oppression. The Muslims are being massacred in Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kashmir and other countries and you are showing the women by dancing with guns/swords that you are brave? What good is this bravery? Do you know really how to use these guns? How, when and where? You can’t even defend yourselves. You have given America/Britain/Europe the military bases on your territory to protect you and your fragile governments. And, in addition to that, you are paying them with petro-dollars as bonus. That’s brave!

When I first visited Dubai in 1970, one of the Bedouin proudly told me (when I questioned his loyalty to Islam for disrespecting Ramadan): “We are Arabic; the Quran is Arabic, the Prophet (Muhammad, s.a.w.) is Arabic. Those prohibitions of discipline are for you (non-Arab foreigners).”

But Allah did not mention that in the ‘Arabic Quran’ that Jannah (Paradise) was for the Arabs only! And the ‘Arab Prophet’ (Muhammad, s.a.w.) declared in front of more than 100,000 people during his last Hajj sermon that no Arab had any preference over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab had any preference over an Arab. The same goes for the Black and White people. The only preference was based on ‘piety’ or ‘righteousness’ (in Arabic: Taqwa). Do you know what Taqwa is? Here’s what Allah says in the Quran:

“It is not righteousness that you turn your faces
towards East or West; but the righteousness is
to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels,
and the Books, and the Messengers; to spend of your
substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for
orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those
who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast
in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfill the
contracts which you have made; and to be firm and
patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and
throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people
of truth, the Allah-fearing (the righteous).”
(al-Quran 2:177)

Allah declared in the Quran that all mankind (of believers) is one ‘nation’ or ‘Ummah’. Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) said that the whole Ummah is like one body; if one part of the body is hurt or aching, the whole body should feel the pain. How many of us feel the pain for the innocent Muslims (children, women, elderly and others) being massacred in Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Libya and other countries?

Narrated Abu Musa:
“The Prophet said, "A believer to another believer is like a building whose different parts enforce each other." The Prophet then clasped his hands with the fingers interlaced (while saying that).”
(Bukhari, Vol. 3, Book 43, No. 626)

We should prove to be brave by standing up for the down-trodden, by helping the victims of oppression, aggression and slaughter-campaign. But we don’t, because we are busy dancing with guns and swords to impress women and claim that we are brave. Are we, really?
Do we know and understand what Allah says?

“Truly Allah loves those who fight in His cause in
battle array, as if they were a solid cemented structure.”
(al-Quran 61:4)

We claim to have knowledge of the Arabic language. Do we understand the messages of the Quran? Do we understand the meaning of ‘Jihad’, the purpose of it, the time for it, and our obligation to it? That’s the right and proper platform to prove ourselves brave. Allah declares in the Holy Quran:

“Fighting is prescribed for you, and you dislike it.
But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is
good for you, and that you love a thing which is
bad for you. But Allah knows, and you know not.”
(al-Quran 2:216)

“Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know
that Allah hears and knows all things.”
(al-Quran 2:244)

Now, what part of the above Quranic verses do we not understand? It’s a simple, clear and straight-forward command without any complication.

Narrated Ibn Abbas:
“Allah's Apostle said, "There is no Hijra (i.e. migration) (from Mecca to Medina) after the Conquest (of Mecca), but Jihad and good intention remain; and if you are called (by the Muslim ruler) for fighting, go forth immediately.”
(Bukhari, Vol. 4, Book 52, No. 42)

Why don’t we try to prove to Allah that we are brave and can fight in HIS way? No, we don’t do that because we are busy dancing with guns/swords to impress women and claim that we are brave. Are we?

How easily we forget (or knowingly ignore) what Allah has commanded us to do in such situations! Here’s a reminder:

“Those who believe, fight in the cause of Allah;
and those who reject Faith, Fight in the cause
of Evil. So fight against the friends of Satan!
Feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.
(al-Quran 4:76)

“Then fight in Allah's cause. You are held
responsible only for yourself, and rouse the
believers. It may be that Allah will restrain
the fury of the unbelievers; for Allah is
the strongest in might and in punishment.”
(al-Quran 4:84)

Narrated Anas bin Malik:
“The Prophet said, ‘A single endeavor (of fighting) in Allah's cause in the forenoon or in the afternoon is better than the world and whatever is in it’."
(Bukhari, Vol. 4, Book 52, No. 50)

When the Devil’s army blockade the supplies of food, water, medicines, clothing and reconstruction material (not to speak of arms for self-defense), we watch as silent spectators. We forget all about humanity, civil or human rights; we don’t see mankind suffering – thirsty and hungry, humans slaughtered, kids butchered, women raped, elderly gunned down. We don’t hear nobody’s cries, screams, weeping on losing one limb or half of his/her body, losing their children or the parents, family member gunned down in front of their eyes, when they are left to feel helpless, miserable and powerless.

That’s when normal human beings should come to their help and rescue. That’s when somebody should tell them: Hold on! We are coming to your aid! We’ll stop the cruel hand of aggression; we’ll stand up for you and fight for justice and humanity along side you. You are not alone in this, we are with you!

But nobody said that; despite the fact that Allah had commanded them in the Quran to stand up and fight the aggression:

“Fight in the way of Allah against those who
fight against you, but begin not hostilities.
Lo! Allah loves not the aggressors.”
(al-Quran 2:190)

“And slay them wherever you find them, and
drive them out of the places whence they drove
you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter.
And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place
of Worship until they first attack you there, but
if they attack you (there) then slay them.
Such is the reward of disbelievers.”
(al-Quran 2:191)

“But if they desist, then lo! Allah is Forgiving,
Merciful. And fight them until persecution is
no more, and religion is for Allah. But if they
desist, then let there be no hostility,
except against wrong-doers.”
(al-Quran 2:192-193)

These commands are very clear and don’t need any fancy (or tricky) interpretation from any scholar.

Life goes on for us. But for the Muslim victims of Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Kashmir, it all seems like a long, never-ending nightmare. What would you do when your own house becomes a graveyard for you and your family? There is no tomorrow, no future, no life. No support – material or moral. All we are doing is, take some pictures and show them around as ‘memories’. It’s just to show off and tell our grandchildren that we were there – here’s the picture as a proof. Yes, we were there but we did not do anything. We didn’t try to stop the massacre; we did not try to resist the injustice and we did not show any proof of physical condemnation of the atrocities. We only danced with guns/swords to show some women that we were brave!

Narrated Abu Said al-Khudri:
“Somebody asked, ‘O Allah's Apostle! Who is the best among the people?"
Allah's Apostle replied "A believer who strives his utmost in Allah's cause with his life and property."
They asked, "Who is next?"
He replied, "A believer who stays in one of the mountain paths worshipping Allah and leaving the people secure from his mischief."
(Bukhari, Vol. 4, Book 52, No. 45)

For those who don’t remember to have come across such verses on the subject of  ‘fighting in the cause of Allah’ or ‘Jihad’, I give here below a few verses from the Quran for their information and education:

“Let those fight in the cause of Allah who sell
the life of this world for the Hereafter. To him
who fights in the cause of Allah, whether he is
slain or gets victory, soon shall We give
him a reward of great (value).”
(al-Quran 4:74)

“Not equal are those believers who sit (at home)
and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight
in the cause of Allah with their goods and their
persons. Allah has granted a grade higher to those
who strive and fight with their goods and persons
than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith)
has Allah promised good. But those who strive
and fight, has He distinguished above those
who sit (at home) by a special reward.”
(al-Quran 4:95)

“And fight them on until there is no more tumult
or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith
in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they
cease, verily Allah does see all that they do.”
(al-Quran 8:39)

“The Unbelievers are protectors, one of another.
Unless you do this, (protect each other), there
would be tumult and oppression on earth,
and great mischief.”
(al-Quran 8:73)

“Those who believe, and adopt exile, and fight
for the Faith, in the cause of Allah as well as
those who give (them) asylum and aid, these
are (all) in very truth the Believers; for them is the
forgiveness of sins and a provision most generous.
(al-Quran 8:74)

“Will you not fight people who violated their
oaths, plotted to expel the Messenger, and took
the aggressive by being the first (to assault) you?
Do you fear them? Nay, it is Allah Whom you
should more justly fear, if you believe!”
(al-Quran 9:13)

“Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your
hands, cover them with shame, help you (to victory)
over them, heal the breasts of Believers.”
(al-Quran 9:14)

“O you who believe! Fight the unbelievers who gird
you about, and let them find firmness in you; and
know that Allah is with those who fear Him.
(al-Quran 9:123)

“To those who leave their homes in the cause of Allah,
after suffering oppression, We will assuredly give a
goodly home in this world; but truly the reward of the
Hereafter will be greater, if they only realized (this)!”
(al-Quran 16:41)

“To those against whom war is made, permission
is given (to fight), because they are wronged; and
verily, Allah is most powerful for their aid.
(They are) those who have been expelled from their
homes in defiance of right, (for no cause) except that
they say, "Our Lord is Allah". Did not Allah check
one set of people by means of another, there would
surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches,
synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah
is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will
certainly aid those who aid his (cause); for verily,
Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might
(Able to enforce His Will).”
(al-Quran 22:39-40)

“So obey not the disbelievers, but strive against
them herewith with a great endeavor.”
(al-Quran 25:52)

“Therefore, when you meet the Unbelievers (in fight),
smite at their necks; at length, when you have thoroughly
subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them). Thereafter
(is the time for) either generosity or ransom, until the
war lays down its burdens. Thus (are you commanded);
but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have
exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets
you fight) in order to test you, some with others.
But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,
He will never let their deeds be lost.
(al-Quran 47:4)

“Allah only forbids you, with regard to those who
fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your
homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from
turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such
as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong.”
(al-Quran 60:9)
