"IF YOU IGNORE ME, You'll Be Ignored And Raised Up Blind On The Day of Judgment!"

Allah’s Warning:

“If You Ignore Me,
You’ll be Ignored And
Raised Up Blind On
The Day Of Judgment!”

(M. Javed Naseem)

Here’s the gist of the Quran! Allah, the Almighty, says in very clear words and in a  straightforward way that whosoever follows His commands (guidance) will never go astray nor will he suffer. But the one who turns away from God, rejects His signs, ignores His message and disregards His warnings, he/she will have a narrow life. He/she will be raised up blind on the Day of Judgment. And eventually, will become fuel of Hellfire. These are the words of God translated into English from the Arabic Quran. The Verses 123 to 127 are from Chapter 20 (Surah Ta-Ha):

“… But if, as is sure, there comes to you Guidance
from Me, whosoever follows My Guidance, will
not lose his way, nor fall into misery.
But whosoever turns away from My Message,
verily for him is a life narrowed down, and
We shall raise him up blind on
the Day of Judgment.
He will say: ‘O my Lord! Why have You raised
me up blind, while I had sight (before)?’
He (Allah) will say: ‘So (it must be);
Our revelations came to you but you
did forget them. In like manner,
you are forgotten this Day.’
And thus do We recompense him who
transgresses beyond bounds and believes not
in the Signs of his Lord; and the Penalty of
the Hereafter is far more grievous
and more enduring.”
(al-Quran 20:123-127)

Nobody can afford to face such a situation on the Day when we’ll be needing help the most. Allah will be the Chief Judge on that day and imagine that in His tribunal, you will be ignored as a defendant because you ignored Him in this temporary worldly life! Can you afford to displease the Chief Judge? People who ignore Allah this day, are behaving like the blind people; and in the Hereafter they will be punished for this rebellion. The will be raised up blind.

The Bible says:
(Proverbs 1:24-33)
“Because I have called and you refused to listen,
have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded,
because you have ignored all my counsel and would
have none of my reproof, I also will laugh at your
calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you, when
terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity
comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish
come upon you. Then they will call upon me,
but I will not answer; they will seek me
diligently but will not find me. ...”

 (James 4:4)
“You adulterous people! Do you not know that
friendship with the world is enmity with God?
Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the
world makes himself an enemy of God.”

Love of this world and its enjoyment makes us forget Allah but that could be a very costly lapse. When we fall ill or get hurt, we remember Allah. We cry and ask Him for help to get out of misery or hardship. But when He bestows His mercy and blessing upon us, we immediately revert to the old tricks, arrogance and disobedience to Him. We forget got and don’t realize that on the Day of Judgment, He can also forget us. It is tit for tat. What you sow, so shall you reap!

“And be not like those who forgot Allah;
and He made them forget their own souls!
Such are the rebellious transgressors!”
(al-Quran 59:19)

(1-John 2:17)
“The world and its desires pass away, but
whoever does the will of God lives forever.”

We are travelers on a mission and are passing through a multi-dimensional phase – this world on planet Earth. Only ‘light’ travelers will make it through easily. The more baggage we carry, the more cumbersome and difficult the journey becomes. Therefore, let’s shed our load of sins, grudges, hate, revenge, ignorance, racism and hypocrisy! Use compassion, love, caring and sharing for spiritual satisfaction and contentment. It will make our journey smooth and life in this world easier. At the same time, it will help us concentrate on our real life (the Hereafter) and do some good work needed badly. Above all, it will please our Lord, the most Merciful.

We have abandoned righteousness; we have discarded compassion. We are controlled by our greed, lust and never-ending desires. We are speeding towards Hell and there seems to be no ‘speed-breakers’ on the way. Can we still reflect and repent (and be saved)? Time is running out!

PITY THE NATION of Short-sighted, Narrow-minded and Evil-oriennted Leaders!

A Prose-poem By Khalil Jibran
(Published Posthumously in 1934)

Pity The Nation
Of Short-sighted,
Narrow-minded And
Evil-oriented Leaders!

(M. Javed Naseem)

“Corruption does appear on land and sea
because of (the evil) which men’s hands
have done, that He may make them taste
a part of that which they have done,
in order that they may return.”
(al-Quran 30:41)

Man shows his ugliest face and the worst behavior of a beast when in pursuit of the worldly pleasures. But when he follows the path of righteousness in pursuit of the Divine pleasure, the angels bow in front of him. That’s his beautiful face. Unfortunately, that happens only occasionally. This world misses the compassion, love, tolerance, sacrifice and Jihad (struggle) for justice which are the qualities of real men.

Today’s man is selfish, cruel, hasty and self-conceited who uses others for his own benefits and interest. He has lost his honesty and sincerity, and has adopted diplomacy and hypocrisy to succeed in his material world.

Khalil Jibran was a Lebanese Christian poet and artist (painter) who later on migrated to the U.S. and remained there till his death. As per his wish, his body was brought back to Bsharri (Lebanon) – the place of his birth – where he was buried and a museum (Gibran Museum) was established.

The sensitive poet saw the chaos in the world, especially in the Middle East, after the First World War. Most of his poetic and artistic work was done in the 1920’s and 1930’s, in the Arabic and English languages. He died in 1932 and some of his poetry (Prose Poetry) was published posthumously in 1933 and 1934. ‘Pity The Nation’ is his most famous prose-poem.

“Pity the nation divided into fragments,
Each fragment deeming itself a nation.
Each fragment has its own short-sighted,
narrow-minded and evil-oriented leader.”

What a beautiful and true assessment of the present-day world! What Khalil Jibran faced in 1930’s, we are still facing it in 2019. The short-sighted, narrow-minded and evil-oriented leaders of 1930s are long dead but the new generation is even worse than them. This lot stinks because it is more corrupt and brainless! They are inept and illegitimate, therefore, they rely on the support of their powerful foreign masters. They’ll do anything to remain in power. They rule by lies and deception. The Almighty says:

“Confound not truth with falsehood,
nor knowingly conceal the truth.”
(al-Quran 2:42)

Politicians tell lies and make empty promises. A successful modern leader has to be a tactful liar too. The modern smart leader/diplomat is a hypocrite – that is ‘Munafiq’ in Islamic terminology. He is a person who pleases – but fools – both parties with his lies, deception and sweet-talk. Because of this injustice prevails in the world.

“Lo, Allah commands you that you restore
deposits to their owners, and if you judge
between mankind, then you judge justly!”
(al-Quran 4:58)

A nation should demand justice, equality and respect as its birth-right. There are moral values and civic laws that govern a society. In the absence of those values and laws, there would be chaos. It would be like living in a jungle. When people stop thinking or asking ‘how’ and ‘why’, they become a dead society. Such people are considered a herd of sheep that will follow even a dummy. Have you ever seen the modern hobby of the rich, the dog race? The dogs chase a dummy rabbit. They don’t even feel that the rabbit is a toy. People of the developing nations are being programmed like that these days. The leaders in those countries are installed by the foreign ‘special interest’ or Elite group. The ‘dummy’ runs the affairs, as he is told to, and the nation follows. The nations which don’t demand justice, don’t stand up against evil, and don’t fight for their own rights, they are as good as dead. Miracles don’t happen unless you try to make them happen. You have to make an effort.

“Lo! Allah changes not the condition of
a folk until they (first) change that which
is in their hearts .....”
(al-Quran 13:11)

In a society where ‘anything goes’, you cannot expect justice, respect or honesty. Nations like that are doomed. They don’t make any effort to change their lives for the better. They just sit back and wait for something to happen. These days the countries have the foreign armies on their soil to defend them. Vow! We did not learn any lesson from the history of nations. The people that cannot defend themselves have no right to freedom. Today, almost all Muslim countries in the Middle East have military bases of a foreign power. Their governments are not democratic and their justice system is based on injustice. Differing opinions are not tolerated; and the voice of the opposition is silenced. They never learned any lesson from the history. Allah says in the Holy Quran:

“We destroyed the generations before you
when they did wrong; and their messengers
(from Allah) came unto them with clear proofs
(of His sovereignty), but they would not believe.
Thus do We reward the guilty folk.”
(al-Quran 10:13)

The Middle Eastern leaders don’t want to hear anything about injustice they are promoting. They want their people to accept it as “God’s Will”. So, people pray to God to change their condition but they themselves don’t do any effort. What logic do we see in doing wrong and still expecting the blessings from Allah? It does not work that way. The saying goes: First deserve then desire. We can ask Allah for His help only when we are trying our best for a good cause. Khalil Jibran said:

“Pity the nation that raises not its voice,
Save when it walks in a funeral;
Boasts not except among its ruins, and will
Rebel not save when its neck is laid
between the sword and the block.”

We have exactly the same situation today. We are almost dead as a nation. We have no character, no dignity and no identity. We have politicians who sell their motherland to foreign masters only to get immigration status for his family. Sheikh Saadi of Iran said that you cannot produce a good sword from a bad metal; meaning that you cannot produce quality product from the low-grade raw material. Nations of the world are laughing at Muslim leaders and politicians. They are ridiculing the Muslim nation. And we can see it why! We have become a nation of the mediocre, inefficient, incompetent and dishonest workers. No wonder we are producing the same kind of leaders and politicians. Khalil Jibran says:

“Pity the nation whose statesman is a fox,
Whose philosopher is a juggler;
And whose art is the art of
patching and mimicking.”

There is something called ‘self-respect’. We have lost it. It’s a hard-earned commodity. If we don’t respect ourselves, who is going to respect us? Nobody! Yes, nobody. And that’s what is happening today. It is out of fashion to talk about Allah, His Messengers, Islam and Muslims. People would leave your company if you start talking about the Quran, national integrity, honesty, justice, fair-play and equality. They take pride in being associated with Devil or America or Britain; even India, Israel or the wretched of the earth Afghanistan. Khalil Jibran said:

“Pity the nation divided into fragments,
Each fragment deeming itself a nation.
Each fragment has its own short-sighted,
narrow-minded and evil-oriented leader.”

There is no leader of the Muslim ‘Ummah’. No wonder it has become a herd of sheep. They are doing nothing to change their destiny. They are engaged in evil practices and are hoping for the blessings of Almighty Allah. They are all waiting for a miracle, for a Messiah. And the only Messiahs they are getting are the ones who are installed by their foreign masters. They come with great pump and show, only to leave with their tails between their legs.

“Pity the nation that welcomes its new ruler
with trumpeting,
And farewells him with hooting;
Only to welcome another with trumpeting again.”

Most of the Muslim countries – especially the French speaking – have lost their identity. Their people try to mimick their Masters, but their masters don’t accept them as equal. And they themselves consider superior to their fellow countrymen. So, they are hanging in the middle, belonging to neither group. In fact they have lost their culture, their values and ultimately their identity. It is happening in Pakistan and India too. There are radio & TV channels, newspapers and magazines that are working day and night to destroy the ideology of those nations. They are even ridiculing the founding fathers of Pakistan and India. At the same time Europe and America are appreciating Iqbal, Jinnah and Gandhi for their role in re-writing the history of the Sub-continent. Funny?

Here is the complete translation of Khalil Jibran’s poem:

“Pity the nation that raises not its voice
Save when it walks in a funeral;
Boasts not except among its ruins, and will
Rebel not save when its neck is laid between
the sword and the block.

Pity the nation whose statesman is a fox,
Whose philosopher is a juggler,
And whose art is the art of patching and mimicking.

Pity the nation that welcomes its new ruler with trumpeting,
And farewells him with hooting;
Only to welcome another with trumpeting again.

Pity the nation whose sages are dumb with years,
And whose strong men are yet in the cradle.
Pity the nation divided into fragments,
Each fragment deeming itself a nation.

EATING LESS OR FASTING: The Key to Good Health And Spiritual Wellbeing.

Want To Live Longer/Healthier?

Eating Less Or Fasting Is
The Key To Good Health
And Spiritual Wellbeing!

(M. Javed Naseem)

The Bible says:
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink; or about your body,
what you will wear! Is not life more than food,
and the body more than clothes?”
Matthew 6:25

A full belly is the Devil’s workshop – nothing good comes out of it. On the contrary a half-empty (or half-full, if it pleases you) belly guarantees you a healthier and better life.
People believe in living comfortably and they try all sorts of things to achieve this goal. But most of the times they end up living a problematic life. I say that you live modestly (as I don’t like luxuries) but die comfortably! It means that you physically live a healthier life which is also very important for your spiritual wellbeing. To me, dying comfortably means dying disease-free, without diabetes, without blood-pressure, without heart ailments, without liver problems, without kidney infections and without obesity. And this is possible only by eating less (including fasting) and exercising.

The Bible says:
“Food will not commend us to God.
We are no worse off if we do not eat,
and no better off if we do.”
1-Corinthians 8:8

With experience, you should become your own doctor as nobody understands your body better than you. You make adjustments in your eating habits and lifestyle; add a little bit of sports (especially jogging/running or at least walking) to it and you are fine. Basically, it is what you eat and how much; and how you burn it. You try one regimen or another and you’ll know what’s better for you.

I am in my 70’s (Alhamdo-lillah or thank God) and I don’t see a doctor for years at a stretch, though I do take a few lab tests every two years to monitor my pH balance. PH (pH) is a measurement of how acidic or alkaline (basic) a substance is. The scale runs from 0 to 14. A pH of less than 7 is considered acidic, and a pH of more than 7 is basic. It is now over 20 years that I never ate 3 meals a day. I take morning breakfast (with 3-5 dates, a cup of milk, two slices of whole-wheat bread dipped in olive oil, an egg, cereal yoghurt and a mug of tea. My second meal is Linner – yes, it’s the combination of Lunch & Dinner. I normally eat at sunset with Maghrib prayer. I fast about 10 days every month (twice/thrice a week). I don’t eat red meat, nor chicken. I eat fish and turkey meat; a lot of fruits, vegetables/salads; dry nuts, drink gallons of tea (lol…) – black, green, ginger, mint and jasmine, with a slice of lemon in the mug (not a cup … lol). Don’t smoke, don’t drink alcohol, don’t drink soda pops (Coke, Pepsi, etc.). I prefer to drink plain water (especially water with a slice of lemon). Of course, there are exceptions too, when I am invited by others, I eat/drink whatever Halal is offered. I don’t make a fuss.

In the morning, before breakfast, I take a glass of lemon-water (fresh lemon squeezed in water) or red apple-cider vinegar (two spoons mixed in a glass of) water. At night, before bed, I take a cup of hot turmeric-milk (half a spoon of turmeric powder mixed in hot milk). Apart from that, I walk (used to jog/run 3-times a week) – brisk walking – 3-5 km every day. And that takes care of my health, keeping the doctors away. The only people I need to consult every couple of years are the dentist and the eye-specialist. I wear glasses only for reading/writing. I drive too.

We know it from the Quran that Prophet Nuh (Noah) lived a long life (950 years). Adam and his sons and many other Prophets also lived longer lives than we can think of – hundreds of years. What was the secret of their long and healthy lives? We don’t know; but we know that there were no sophisticated clinics or hospitals nor special medicines or drugs they used. The lifestyle was plain and simple; nobody ate 3-meals a day. They ate less and worked harder. They walked a lot too.

The last Prophet (Muhammad, s.a.w.) gave us a sincere piece of advice about filling our bellies. He said:
“No human ever filled a vessel worse than the stomach. Sufficient for the son of Adam are a few morsels to keep his back straight. But if he cannot bear that, then one third for his food, one third for his drink and one third for his breath.” (Ahmad, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasa’i, Ibn Majah).

When Yuhanna Bin Masawaiyh (770 CE), the famous Assyrian physician who lived through the tenure of four Caliphs in Baghdad, heard about the Prophet’s Hadith, he remarked, “If people only applied these words practically, they would avoid all diseases and maladies; and the clinics and pharmacies would be idle.”

Modern research has shown that remarkable reduction in the amount of food consumed helped fish, rats and monkeys live longer. But there have been very few studies in humans. Now, some researchers have found that when people severely cut calories, they can slow their metabolism and possibly the aging process.
Western scientists and researchers know fully well the benefits of fasting but they deliberately avoid to recommend it because they don’t want to promote ‘Ramadan’ – in other words promote Islam. So, they keep beating about the bush.

The Bible says:
“But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.”  1-Corinthians 9:27.

“It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, in all your dwelling places,
that you eat neither fat nor blood.” – Leviticus 3:17.

“Be not among drunkards or among gluttonous eaters of meat, for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags.” – Proverbs 23:20-21.

“Speak to the people of Israel, saying, ‘You shall eat no fat, of ox or sheep or goat!’” – Leviticus 7:23.

Clinical physiologist Leanne Redman, who headed a study at Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, Florida, says that people who cut their typical plate for breakfast, lunch and dinner by up to 25 percent, for two years, lost quite a bit of weight – 25 pounds on average.

For testing, participants also spent 24 hours in special rooms that measured their metabolic rates via gas, oxygen and carbon dioxide and how it changed over time.
Redman noticed that for those on the restricted diet, their metabolism slowed and became more efficient.
"Basically it just means that cells need less oxygen in order to generate the energy the body needs to survive; and so the body and the cells are becoming more energy efficient," Redman explains.

Biochemist Valter Longo, who studies longevity at the University of Southern California, says: "Basically, you have to eat progressively less to maintain the same weight."

Carrying around too much weight can cause countless health problems. Instead of chronic calorie restriction, Longo is a proponent of mini-fasts. These are short reductions in calories to just 900 a day for five days a month, which, he says, have the benefits of fasting without the potentially negative long-term effects. In his book ‘The Longevity Diet’, Longo stresses the importance of eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat.
It may not ultimately lengthen your life, he says, but it can certainly help you maintain a healthy weight and avoid the kinds of chronic illnesses that can shorten it. These practices are not for everyone. If you have a history of eating disorders check with your doctor before starting any new regimen.

Fasting Or Intermittent Fasting (IF):

According to Dr. Monique Tello, there’s a ton of incredibly promising intermittent fasting (IF) research done on fat rats. They lose weight, their blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugars improve… but they’re rats. Studies in humans, almost across the board, have shown that IF is safe and incredibly effective. A growing body of research suggests that the timing of the fast is key, and can make IF (Intermittent Fasting) a more realistic, sustainable, and effective approach for weight loss, as well as for diabetes prevention.
She says:
“The food we eat is broken down by enzymes in our gut and eventually ends up as molecules in our bloodstream. Carbohydrates, particularly sugars and refined grains (think white flours and rice), are quickly broken down into sugar, which our cells use for energy. If our cells don’t use it all, we store it in our fat cells as, well, fat. But sugar can only enter our cells with insulin, a hormone made in the pancreas. Insulin brings sugar into the fat cells and keeps it there.”
“Between meals, as long as we don’t snack, our insulin levels will go down and our fat cells can then release their stored sugar, to be used as energy. We lose weight if we let our insulin levels go down. The entire idea of IF is to allow the insulin levels to go down far enough and for long enough that we burn off our fat.”

New research is suggesting that not all IF approaches are the same; some are actually very reasonable, effective, and sustainable, especially when combined with a nutritious plant-based diet. We have evolved to be in sync with the day/night cycle, i.e., a circadian rhythm. Our metabolism has adapted to daytime food, nighttime sleep. Nighttime eating is well associated with a higher risk of obesity, as well as diabetes.
Research shows that just changing the timing of meals, by eating earlier in the day and extending the overnight fast, significantly benefited metabolism. Dr. Deborah Wexler, Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Diabetes Center and associate professor at Harvard Medical School, says:
“There is evidence to suggest that the circadian rhythm fasting approach, where meals are restricted to an eight to 10-hour period of the daytime, is effective, but generally, it is recommended that people use an eating approach that works for them and is sustainable to them.”
There is some good scientific evidence suggesting that circadian rhythm fasting, when combined with a healthy diet and lifestyle, can be a particularly effective approach to weight loss, especially for people at risk for diabetes. (However, people with advanced diabetes or who are on medications for diabetes, people with a history of eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should not attempt intermittent fasting unless under the close supervision of a physician who can monitor them.)

The Way To Do It:
  1. Avoid sugars and refined grains. Instead, eat fruits, vegetables, beans, lentils, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats (a sensible, plant-based, Mediterranean-style diet).
  2. Let your body burn fat between meals. Don’t snack. Be active throughout your day. Build muscle tone.
  3. Consider a simple form of intermittent fasting. Limit the hours of the day when you eat, and for best effect, make it earlier in the day (between 7 am to 3 pm, or even 10 am to 6 pm, but definitely not in the evening before bed).
  4. Avoid snacking or eating at nighttime, all the time.

IF YOU CAN'T HELP PEOPLE, Stop Fooling Them! A Man In Authority Is A Servant.

If You Can’t Help People,
Stop Fooling Them!

You Cannot Rule By Lies
And Deception!

A Man In Authority Is
A Servant To People!

(M. Javed Naseem)

The Bible says:
“Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need
clothes and don’t have enough to eat. What good
is there in your saying to them, ‘God bless you!
Keep warm and eat well!’ – if you don’t give
them the necessities of life?”
(James 2:15-16)

In today’s world, every ruler (government) is lying to its people; fooling them with empty promises; and deceiving them on most issues. We are living by hypocrisy and diplomacy. And they both constitute lies and deception! We are living fake lives to impress others and don’t want to come out of the shell of ‘image’ that we have created around us. We are so worried about others – what would others think if we do this or that? But in fact we don’t care about others. There are those ‘others’ who live in misery, poverty and need but we don’t care about them. We selfishly care about ourselves only and use others as excuse. We are hypocrites – liars!

”A painful doom is theirs because they lie.”
(al-Quran 2:10)

We worry about those people who don’t care about us either. They are the people who believe that a successful person has to be a good liar too. Not true at all. Almost all politicians in the world are liars – good or bad – but not all of them are successful. Apart from that, who respects a liar? I don’t; do you?

“Lo! Allah guides not one who is
a prodigal, a liar.”
(al-Quran 40:28)

”Woe unto each sinful liar!”
(al-Quran 45:7)

As humans, we need to be compassionate and sympathetic towards others – especially the less fortunate. It is our moral, social and religious obligation to take care of those who need care and help. It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Umar that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) said:
"Beware! Every one of you is a shepherd and every one is answerable with regard to his flock. The Caliph (ruler) is a shepherd over the people and shall be questioned about his subjects (as to how he conducted their affairs). A man is a guardian over the members of his family and shall be questioned about them (as to how he looked after their well-being). A woman is a guardian over the household of her husband and his children and shall be questioned about them (as to how she managed the household and brought up the children). A slave is guardian over the property of his master and shall be questioned about it (as to how he safeguarded his trust). Beware, every one of you is a guardian and every one of you shall be questioned with regard to his trust.”

During the times of Caliph Umar bin al-Khattab, a great servant of Allah, Saeed bin Aamer, was appointed as governor of Homs (or Hams). After some time, some people of Homs complained and asked for his removal. Caliph Umar was a bit surprised. He was an excellent judge of people and could not believe what he heard. He prayed to Allah to bless him with wisdom, and then went to Homs to see the concerned parties. He held the court at Saeed’s place and suggested that Governor Saeed bin Aamer listen to the complaints of the people. He then asked the people about their complaints.

The residents of Homs said that they had three complaints. Their first complaint was that the governor used to leave home late and never started the business of the court early in the morning.
Caliph Umar asked Saeed bin Aamer to explain.
Governor Saeed replied that his wife was the only person at home who would take care of the household. They had no servants. He helped her to make the dough and bake the bread. Then they would eat together. After that, he would do the ablution (wudhu) and leave home for work.

Caliph Umar then asked people about their second complaint. People said that the Governor did not entertain their complaints at night. He would tell them to come in the morning.
Caliph Umar turned to Governor Saeed and asked for his explanation.
Saeed bin Aamer said that he did not like to answer that question but as a token of respect for the Caliph, he would explain. He said that he had divided the day and night into two parts. The day was reserved for the service of the creation (people); and the night was reserved for the Creator (Allah). He said that he prayed to Allah all night, therefore, he could not attend any worldly business.

Caliph Umar bin al-Khattab asked people what their third complaint was. People said that the Governor used to take one day off every month. On that day, he would not take care of people’s business.
Caliph Umar bin al-Khattab asked Saeed bin Aamer how would he answer to that? Governor Saeed explained that he had no servants or maids. He washed his own clothes once every month and then waited for them to dry. When the clothes were dry by the evening, he would put them on to go out. He could not come out of his house earlier.

Caliph Umar thanked Allah for his selection of Saeed bin Aamer as Governor, then he advised people to appreciate such a good governor.
Later on, Caliph Umar sent a gift of one thousand Dinars for Saeed bin Aamer to facilitate his household needs. His wife suggested that she should hire a maid for the household. Governor Saeed told his wife that there were still poor people around who needed the money more than her. What if they came to ask for help? The wife understood and agreed with his suggestion to donate the money in charity (Sadaqah). Then both of them put that money in small pouches and distributed it among the needy.
That’s how a ruler should take care of his subjects!

If the rulers of today’s Muslim countries take a minute and think about their kingdoms and so-called democracies in the light of the Holy Quran and Sunnah, hopefully they will get the message and wake up. Otherwise, they should know that the grip of Allah is very severe and the punishment would be their destiny.

“And how many a generation we destroyed
before them, who were mightier than these in
prowess so that they overran the lands! Had they
any place of refuge (when the judgment came)?
Lo, therein verily is a reminder for him who has
a heart, or gives ear with full intelligence.”
(al-Quran 50:36-37)

The Bible says:
“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
(Philippians 2:4)

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
(Luke 6:38)

“But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?”
(1-John 3:17)

“Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, but afterward his mouth will be full of gravel.”
(Proverbs 20:17)

“For whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.”
(1-Peter 3:10)

“Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience!”
(Ephesians 5:6)

The Almighty tells us again and again that we should pay attention; use our intelligence and show heart. We should think and reflect, and eventually repent. He is infinite mercy and He will guide us through. We just cannot disregard all calls and warnings. It is time that we change our attitude and bring some positive changes. If not, then He will bring the change. And when Allah brings the change, it is very sudden. It is very easy for Him to turn the world upside down. He makes the nations disappear in an instance, and replace them with the new ones. Are we waiting for that?
