Dhamasa (Fagonia
Cretica):
An Herb That
Cures Breast Cancer.

Cancer is a gift of the modern technology
and new-age lifestyle. And what’s even worse
is the drugs to treat cancers and the chemotherapy. They promote cancers
instead of curing and treating it. There are hundreds of research papers
published on this subject and the honest researchers and doctors are warning
general public of the dangerous and harmful effects of chemotherapy.
Today, almost 90 percent of all cancers in the world are
triggered by toxins. These toxins cause failures in the regulation of the cell
cycle starting with the formation of cells and ending with programmed cell
death. If humans could find anything natural (from plants, herbs, fruits,
vegetables, shrubs or trees that would interfere with this activity of toxins,
that would be considered the real treatment and cure to cancer. It would make
the cancer impossible to grow. The Chinese treat and cure many physical
ailments with herbal teas and extracts. Scientists from the East and the West
have found cancer-fighting properties in many food items like lemon, ginger,
turmeric, garlic, pepper, etc. But their research never reached the point of
benefit for general public – not yet.
In most Asian, African and Latin American countries,
alternative medicine is very popular and is preferred. In China, India,
Pakistan and East Asia, this alternative medicine means herbal medicine (though
it might have a different name in each country).
In rural Pakistan, where country (simple and natural) lifestyle
prevails, people rarely go to modern qualified physicians (doctors). The local
herbalists (many not even educated or qualified in medical field) and quacks
serve people well. They learned the tricks of the trade from their elders and
the experience passes through generations. Some of these people are known for
treating even cancer with herbs. The most famous of these herbs is called “Dhamasa”
in local language and it grows wild in the arid land of Punjab and Sind. Its
biological name is ‘Fagonia Cretica’ and it has beautiful pink flowers. The tea
made from its extract kills cancer cells.
Dr. John Summerly, a nutritionist, herbologist, and
homeopathic practitioner, says:
“Over 50% of chemotherapeutic drugs which are in use today
are derived from compounds obtained plants. The biggest difference is that the
plants are a perfectly balanced part of nature and interact in unison with the
human digestive system. Chemotherapy drugs on the other hand are artificially
created in a lab, and ultimately cause homeostatic dissonance within the human
body.”
Fagonia Cretica is an ancient remedy for various ailments. Quacks
(Hakims) in India and Pakistan have been using tea made from its extract to
cure breast cancer. Shockingly, the treatment is so effective and fast that
patients start seeing the positive results within 24 to 72 hours (1-3 days). It
was this amazing result that drew the attention of doctors and scientists not
only from across the country but also from Europe and America. An
English-language newspapers from Lahore (Pakistan) published a story on that
and skeptically asked: “The plant, Fagonia cretica, (also known as Virgon´s
Mantlem), has been used in tea form to treat women in rural Pakistan who have
breast cancer. Is this mythology or does it have real properties?”
The story also got the attention of some British doctors who
decided to investigate it and find the truth. Scientists at Aston University,
Prof. Helen Griffith, and Russells Hall Hospital, Prof. Amutul R. Carmichael, led
the research team. They have discovered that, in vitro, Fagonia Cretica
(Dhamasa) does have the ability to kill breast cancer cells.
“A small hospital 100 miles north of Lahore in Pakistan
started using the herbal tea 40 years ago to treat breast cancer patients. It
appears to keep them in remission, although we can`t use the word cure at this
stage,” Carmichael said.
“However, they live for a long time without losing their hair or putting on a large amount of weight, or experiencing other toxic side effects associated with chemotherapy, so we are confident this extract has something to contribute,” Carmichael was quoted by the paper as saying.
At present the herbal tea is being used to treat Asians but there might be different effects in Caucasian patients, she added. The study was published in the journal ‘PloS One’.

Early days yet, it also seems to leave healthy cells
unharmed. Professor Helen Griffith and Professor Amutul R Carmichael are now aiming
to identify which element or elements of the plant are responsible for killing
the cancer cells with a view to eventually begin trails with human cancer
patients.
Writing in the journal PLoS One, in a study
entitled ‘An Aqueous Extract of Fagonia cretica Induces DNA Damage, Cell
Cycle Arrest and Apoptosis in Breast Cancer Cells via FOXO3a and p53 Expression,’
the UK-based researchers noted that the plant — sometimes known as Virgon’s Mantlem — has long been used in rural Pakistan to
help women with breast cancer. The lab based findings suggest the Fagonia
cretica plant, found in arid, desert regions of Pakistan, India, Africa and
parts of Europe, contains potential anti-cancer agents acting either
independently or in combination against breast cancer cell proliferation.
Professors Helen Griffith (of Aston University) and her
team’s data revealed “for the first time” that an aqueous extract of Fagonia cretica
can bring on cell cycle death via p53-dependent and independent mechanisms,
“with activation of the DNA damage response… We also show that FOXO3a is
required for activity in the absence of p53,” said the researchers. “Our
findings indicate that Fagonia cretica aqueous extract contains potential
anti-cancer agents acting either singly or in combination against breast cancer
cell proliferation via DNA damage-induced FOXO3a and p53 expression.”
Professor Griffith and Professor Amutul Carmichael, who co-lead
the study, stated that their further aim is to identify which element or
elements of the plant are responsible for killing the cancer cells with a view
to eventually beginning research in people with cancer. “More research is
needed to establish the role of the extract in cancer management, and it now
needs to be demonstrated that this extract is as effective in killing cancer
cells inside the body as it is in the laboratory [setting],” said Griffith.
Conclusion:
We have shown here for the first time that an extract of Fagonia
Cretica induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in two phenotypically distinct
breast cancer cell lines. Extract activity involves DNA damage and
p53-induction but is not fully dependent on p53 functionality. In addition,
extract treatment induces FOXO3a expression which may be attributed to DNA
damage directly or induction of DNA repair pathways. We also demonstrated that
FOXO3a expression is required for extract activity in the absence of functional
p53. This provides a novel mechanism by which an aqueous extract of Fagonia Cretica,
used extensively in Pakistan, can kill breast cancer cells in vitro. However,
the molecular composition of the bioactive(s), remains to be determined.

Author’s Note:
As a service to humanity, I wanted
to give people the source where women with breast cancer could find the easy
treatment. While sitting in Morocco, I didn’t have enough time and resources to
find out the “small hospital 100-miles north of Lahore”, as narrated by the
British researchers. But I did find some herbalist in Lahore-Cantt., who sells
the tea packs of Dhamasa (Fagonia Cretica). He advertises on the net about
Fagonia herbal tea, for about Rs.1,500/= per pack of 250gm. When I contacted
them, they told me that they sell it for $45.00 per pack and minimum 5-packs
per delivery. That means roughly Rs.25,000 per course of 5-packs. When I
pointed out that their advertised price was Rs.1,450/=, they said that it was
an ‘old post’. I told them to remove (delete) the old post instead of deceiving
people. Removing (deleting) requires only one click! But they didn’t. Looks
like everything has been well calculated. It’s all about money. Nobody fears
God these days, especially the so-called Muslim businessmen. People want to get
rich as fast as possible. So, I am not quoting any address or source.
By the way, I figured out, during
my short research, that to make tea from Dhamasa (Fagonia) plant, people use
only the branches (stems) and NOT the leaves! Now, it’s up to you to figure
out. May God bless you with good health!
