Jazaak ALLAH o khaira.
Regarding the following excerpt of your comments:
Quote:
“There are three different versions of the last sermon of the Prophet (s.a.w.) in the books and on the internet. If one is authentic and correct, then the remaining two are not authentic! What does it say? It says: Shame on you Muslims, you are not even capable of safeguarding and preserving your heritage!”
….unquote
Let me add as under:
The sermon consists of a series of general exhortations for Muslims to follow the teachings that Prophet Muhammad had set forth in the Quran and sunnah.
The authentic sourced version of the sermon is from “The History of Al-Tabari” accepted by all the major Muslim scholars, Vol.9, pp. 112-113. (Original Arabic Volumes of his book are available).
Ibne Khatir gives much longer text, consisting not only of the address at “Arafat”, but also the Prophet’s second address delivered on the second day of his stay at Mina, i.e. on the 11th of Dhu al Hijjah. Ibne Khatir’s account is therefore much more comprehensive than that of Ibn Hasham. Some of the further proclamations included in it could not properly be included in Ibn Hisham’s version, since these were made separately in the three days following the “Arafat” address of the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah. However, some later authorities have edited the Farewell Address, so that it includes these further statements and proclamations.
Muhammad al-Bukhari refers to the sermon and quotes part of it in his Sahih al-Bukhari . (Reference: See Al-Bukhari, Hadith 1623, 1626, 6361)
Ahmad ibn Hanbal gave the longest version of this sermon and perhaps the most complete version of this sermon in his Masnud, Hadith no. 19774.) .
Part of it is also present in Sahih_Muslim (Hadith number 98).
Imam al-Tirmidhi has mentioned this sermon in Hadith nos. 1628, 2046, 2085.
Pray ALLAH to guide us towards right path. A’meen.
Best regards.
Talaat Qureshihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08960830187493208882noreply@blogger.com
